The thank you thread! (and more squeees as necessary)

Well, no one else has started this yet and I think it's inevitable so I though I might as well!

Even though it was said at both Pride and the conference, I think that there should be massive thanks to everyone who was involved in making this weekend happen. It was A-mazing. To the organisers, the speakers who came from all over the world to give us their insights about asexuality and tell us about their hard work in visibility, education, research...you name it! I would try and name everybody, but I don't want to miss anyone out. Also to everyone who managed to actually turn up to the events, especially given some of the huge distances people had to travel.

I really hope we can have more international meets like this because it was so great to meet so many different people. I only wish there'd been more time - I don't think I managed to talk to half of the people there! Also, I know some people missed out on this for one reason or another and it'd be a shame not to have another opportunity like this to network, share ideas with one another, or, whatever, just socialise!

So, yeah, I reckon we should celebrate with even more cake :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: (cause that's what we do right?) /perpetuating asexual stereotypes

Thanks everyone for a great weekend :D

Well, I made a thank you thread in Celebrations last night but I'd been awake for 36 hours by that point. :P Thank you anyway!

I wanted to definitely echo the sentiments expressed here!

Mostly organizers who must've put a lot of effort into it.

I also want to thank several people, who were very nice to me at some point or the other.

And everyone; it was awesome meeting all of you (even though I missed out on a lot of people, too).

I just wish I could've stayed longer... Did you have fun in the pub after the conference?

(and to anyone wondering, I was the all-in-black Polish girl with broken English...)

It really was an incredible weekend. THANK YOU so much to the organisers for all of their hard work. And of course, for their generosity because, as well as the time they devoted to this, they supported it all financially themselves. Next time, let's make sure a donation box happens :) (and any leftover pennies can go on cake!! :cake:) Yes, there will be a next time!! I hope!! I felt like yesterday was a pretty momentous occasion that we're not going to forget for a while!

The talks, the discussions, the film... It was all brilliant, and as well as seeing some friendly old faces I met so many awesome new people.

Trava u doma - In reply to you, we did indeed have fun in the pub after (well, I certainly did... I was in there until the very end...we were the hardcore six :D)

I also wish there had been more time to chat to everyone, but hopefully there will many more of these type things to come in the future.

Thanks everyone (especially those who came so far), and keep in touch! :cake::cake::cake:

I too want to add my thanks to everyone who worked on organizing and paying for this. I will happily add to any collection kitty.

As one of the hardcore six I would love to keep things going today too so if someone can tell me where the people are hanging out this evening I'll come and have goodbye hugs one more time :)

It seems apropriate that my first post should be in the thank you thread for the conference :)

I had a great time and it was fantastic to meet so many nice people. Many thanks to the organisers for their time, effort and for financing the event! Also thanks to everyone else for making this a great first meet-up -- I'm looking forward to the next one.

I could only make the Saturday, but it's been a brilliant experience nonetheless. I met so many new people, had a brilliant time, and although it was my first pride, there's no way it's going to be my last. Thanks so much to all those who did the donkey work of putting it all together. :cake:

(and to anyone wondering, I was the all-in-black Polish girl with broken English...)

From what I remember, your English was fine. :)

I was the soggy one with the ace on my cheek on one end of the banner lol

Big thanks again to Nigel, my Underground guide, lol, without whom I wouldn't have attended at all.

Well done everybody :D

EEEEEEEE That was amazing!! =D Thanks to all who organised and came and made cake! I wish I could've stayed longer but I still had a great time whilst I was there! =D

Like everyone else is saying, thank you for everyone who organised it! I could only go the Saturday, but I'm so glad I did. (I was the amazingly dry one in the black and white fedora.) It was not only my first pride, but the first time I"ve ever met anyone who I know is ace in real life. Sometimes it helps to know you're not alone.

I don't know of it is to do with this, but I actually cam out to my dad last night. Of course, he was mostly "lol, what is asexuality?" but it's a first step. I feel a lot more confident about it now!

Oh, if anyone is on youtube, we appear (briefly) in

video here, between 3 and 2 minutes from the end. Be warned, it is 25 minutes long if you want to watch all of it.

Definatly looking forward to next time!

Thankyou to everyone involved for making the whole weekend so amazing! It was great to see so many aces in one place.

Also thankyou to everyone who sort of just let me tag-along, you're all awesome, thanks!

Alex :-)

Thanks for this! We appear at 22:51. I'm in it very briefly since I'm over the other side from the camera (thank goodness!)

Although with my bag and that flag around me I look like I have an incredibly fat ass...

Thank you to everyone for coming! This wouldn't have been near as good if nobody turned up.

Glad to hear everyone enjoyed it and I think I can safely speak for the other organisers when I say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Michael because without him this would never have happened. Wouldn't have mattered one bit what any of the rest of us did, if Michael wasn't around and didn't do what he did this wouldn't have happened.

Met a ton of great people - Trava it was great to see you after going back and forth on IM over translations! Great to see people who were just finding out that asexuality was a thing and it might fit them or just found out about it and though sexual were interested in it so came along to conference to learn more.

So, a lot of fun was had. I've got a really sore throat now and feel a bit groggy but I half expected that to happen after all the fun. Can't wait for all the pictures and videos I hope were taken/made to start poppin gup. I saw people with cameras outside of the big one son tripods so, who knows?

And again, thank you for coming!

I'd also like to thank all the organisers for what they have done and did during this weekend.

Though I did find pride itself to be a tad disappointing (I blame Boris and the cuts, but I also blame my inability to get enthused or enjoy crowds and loud noises). I don't fault at all the work put in by those aces who organised it. The mass amount of leaflets, t shirts, condoms and dental dams (now I know what one smells like, and lived vicariously through the tasting of one- thanks Akira) there were also tons more stuff, which all in all was impressively put together. I didn't make it to the conference but I've only heard good things about it, so another well done and congrats on that.

I had no idea a lot of this stuff came from peoples own pockets. I echo all sentiments about there being a "pot" and we as a community should chip together to have nice things.

It was great to see new and familiar faces and have dozens of us in one place.

A lot of effort went into this, and I hope everyone had an ace time /cheese

Oh yes, thank you to the organisers, and thank you everyone else who attended; so great to meet up with all the old faces again, and meet some new ones.. not just from the UK but all around the world.

I really can't beleive just how much I came away with from the conference. Didn't think there'd be all that much actually, but it's so good to see so many ideas floating around, so much potential, and so many positive things yet to be arranged.

And if there's any collection tin, I'd be quite happy to add something to it. Knowing the costs involved in this sort of thing.. wow.

But oh god, that video. Was this at the end or something or after it'd just rained; I look so bored and sullen. Eek.

I'd like to say thanks too. Apart from the rather annoying bit between the start of the parade and the start of the parade, which was nothing to do with us, the whole thing was absolutely great, and I wish we could've stayed longer both days. And for anyone who cares, I was the one with either ace flag hair or purple-white-turquoise hair, depending on when you looked at me.

Thanks to all the organisers, and thanks to everyone else as well :cake:.

Bris, thanks for putting this into words.

My thank you goes as well to everyone who came, to Michael and all the other people who were in the organization group!

I too want to send my thanks to everyone who organised and paid for the Pride march and the conference. This weekend was both the first Pride and the first ace meetup I'd ever been to, so I was kind of nervous, but everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere overall was just so joyful and enthusiastic. :) All of the panels at the conference were fascinating; I thought I'd be sure to lose concentration at some point during such a long day, but everything was so interesting that it never happened. The panel about international activism and translation especially appealed to my language-nerd sensibilities. Now I'm all fired up and wanting to go up to random strangers in the street and tell them all about asexuality. :)

Also, mad props to whoever organised all that :cake:

Sunday was my first ever meet up with other aces, that i know of. It was truly amazing to be able not only to find my "family" of people who understood me but to talk to some truly fantastic people (Not least the organisers who deserve never ending supplies of cake for their work).

This won't be my last meeting with these people if I have any say in it.

Thanks everyone

I'm yet to find a photo/clip I don't look horrendously mopey in.

Speaking of the conference, what exactly did people start planning? I've heard things involving media representation in various countries.

Oh, reading here is the perfect way to spend my night at Stansted! Running out of money in 4mins54seconds though. xD

As said -- Lots of thanks for the people organising, especially Michael. Wonderful job, it was an amazing experience.

And thanks to people for sharing your stories (was touching. at the end of the conference I got kinda emotional), your visibility/education insights and plans, and your enthusiasm (I loved the parade! -- just couldn't stop smiling)

Also, thanks to all aces for being there, and for being awesome. Special thanks to the ones who dragged me around London for a few days, I had a lot of fun, will not forget it. :)

All the best. =]

Did anyone take any pics?

I wasn't able to make it to Worldpride, but I did find some pics!

I have a post on my tumblr with some pictures, here. Also, for a time when googling for 'asexual world pride' in the the day of and after pride in google images the only pics of us on the day was one of Sassy and one of Ninny. Which I found kind of amusing considering, though they weren't next to each other.

But for those not wanting to go to tumblr, here are the pics:

I'm enjoying seeing pics of others when I do spot them though. Sorry you didn't have as great a time as others did Sassy, I saw that you didn't seem to be enjoying yourself as I'd hoped but wasn't sure how to help or if I could so tried not to bug you. Glad you came though :cake:
