Asexuals don't feel sexual attraction to others, but is it normal for an ace to not masturbate? I mean ever. It is widely believed that "99% of people masturbate and the 1% who say they don't are lying", but i know for a fact that some actually don't because i'm one of them. Assuming i'm not the only person in the world who doesn't lol. And it's not like i choose not to do it, i just don't feel like it. When this topic have come up in conversation in the past, people have always looked at me funny, thinking i was either very weird or lying. Someone even said "you don't have to ashamed, everybody does it!" Is this weird even for an ace? I've been wondering if there is something wrong with me either mentally or physically and if maybe i should go see a doctor. Link to post Share on other sites

While it certainly can be a medical issue, it can just as easily be natural for a person to either choose not to masturbate or feel no desire for it. I think it's... -93% of males do, 7% don't. -47% of females do, 53% don't. Pretty distanced. I'll try to find the source of it and send it when I do. On my part... I do. Rarely, but yes. As for the ones who do, some will be a constant presence in those people's lives, others only showing up intermittently - sometimes not existing for months or even years at a time. Those who say that anyone who claims not to masturbate is a liar, do so because they neither accept nor fully comprehend non-libidoism - seeing it, for the most part, as either a quaint fiction or simply a medical defect. Well, as I always say, the quality of my life isn't degraded in any way, I'm not dying due to the fact that I don't masturbate, the fabric of time and space wont tear because I don't fap to some magazine. That's not just asexuals. That's all people (I assume beyond puberty). So it is quite normal not to masturbate. But if you're curious, an AVEN poll has shown that the proportion of asexuals who masturbate is... you guessed it: also 2/3! Rarely have I ever had people give me stranger looks and question the validity of my statements to a higher degree than when I suggested that no, in fact, not everyone masturbates. Sometimes, I get random erections (how far do people normally go in discussing their body functions here?) and yeah.. never mind. The point is, I don't do it very often at all, if it even counts.
