iff
Today being a nice day, I was out, I did do 1km less than usual but in the change to my route, it meant 520 metres of he rideascending instead of 460 meters. tough section added but happy with the ride. My splits were 29 minutes/ 54 minutes/ 1 hour 28 and 2 hours 13(the change being the last section

Truth and Lies
I finally hit the breaking point for weight I set for myself years ago. -_- Woven, non-stretchy fabrics really clue you in to weight gain. I promised myself that if I ever hit that point, I'd start trying to exercise seriously and on a regular basis. I enrolled in a beginner's swimming class this semester and I had my first class of actual swimming this past Thursday. I love pools and swimming so much. It's twice per week, so it will be wonderful to be able to swim so often! I will also be trying to make use of my gym membership more often. I think I'll be going this Wednesday evening. Likely, it will be some weight lifting, maybe the elliptical or the treadmill... speaking of treadmills, the last time I used one, my lower back and abdomen hurt a lot (bad pain). I wonder if it was because of poor posture or the incline I was running on? Hm. Here's to hoping I exercise more often.
iff
Missed last 2 weeks due to rain 2 weeks ago and burning my thumb last week. My legs really suffered, hills seemed a bit more like walls. It was hard and my legs are very sore, as is particularly my right arm. My timings on it was 29 minutes/1 hour/ 1 hour 42 minutes and finally 2 hours 29 minutes
LyraHW
So this weekend gone started well - I took part in my first OCR: The Major Series :) Was unbelievably hard work, my knees have been cut up and bruised and look horrendous... but would do it again in a heartbeat (as long as there's a few months between beats ;) ) Sunday was my training to become a run leader for the running group I'm in so there was a bit of resting the legs then... although having to demonstrate lunges was not a high point for me - my thighs were protesting too much :/ I'm now going to become fully committed to my marathon training as well as get a bit more strength in for the brutal run and further ocrs I've signed up for :) (ooh yes, also, now graded and achieved Blue Belt - 5th kyu - in kickboxing :D )
Truth and Lies
Swimming has been going quite well, though it's definitely testing my stamina. :) Everyone is now in the larger pool and each class seems to be getting more difficult. Just yesterday, my partner and I swam our initial six 50s with fins, and then we had to lose the fins and do S.K.I.P.S. (swim 100, kickboard 100, individual medley 100, pull buoy 100, swim 100) and eight 100 IMs (though I only did backstroke and freestyle), and finally ten 25 sprints. I'm a slug. I am literally a slug without fins. xD As an example: My first 500 time, done with fins, was 11:13. My second 500 time, without fins, was 25 minutes flat. Major difference. I cannot manage to use my arms enough to give me any speed, and trying to do so messes up my breathing technique, as I found out during those ten 25s yesterday. Copious amounts of water were swallowed or coughed out. Whoops. Not to mention, I was so out of breath I only did seven of those 25s in order to rest some. ^^; I think from tomorrow onward, we won't be using the fins at all.

Risu
My plan to get back into the weight room hasn't happened yet.. but I do get workouts in at home (my minimum 2 a week..). But I am going to be rock climbing more. I miss it...hopefully I can make some friends there this year so it's easier to stick with. I hate going by myself. And it's getting cold outside... I miss running as much as I did in the summer. I don't like running in the wind or snow. >_> Went yesterday though. I was getting frustrated with some videos I was trying to edit for a project and I wanted to huck my computer out the window.. so I went running. Felt way better (even though I'm getting a cold now..). Did my first 'airdrop' mission in ZR just to try it out. My next mission is a 40 minute one minimum, so I need to plan that one better... I like my 30 minute runs.
iff
Been a while, how is everyone getting on? Been going well lately, between walks and cycles, I have now done 6 consecutive weeks. September and most of October were practical write off between weather, colds and mishaps but at least now some consistency even if today was only 30 km and 100 minutes but today was a miserable day I think a cold early in june affected my vigour for getting out on the bike, since I think I lacked the enthusiasm for rides during the week (which with the darkest coming earlier and earlier is a moot point)

Zerο
Ugh it's deep into winter in Minnesota now that means I can't run anymore (treadmills bore the heck out of me), but I think I'm keeping my cardio at serviceable levels with some martial arts / fitness classes I've been going to. njosnavelin
Winter is slowing me down.. I ran maybe four times last month. I have done yoga maybe twice. The urge is persistent but the motivation isn't. I commute on my bike 12 plus miles daily. That is usually enough I don't feel like pursuing other "work outs" all the best! Tanwen
Ooohhh - no-one posted for a while...don't believe you've ll given up exercising I'm still going to aquafit and have also started Pilates and Torso training on Thursdays, Spin classes (Group cycling). My skin leaks a LOT in Spin
iff
Getting back in the rhythm. Got three good cycles in on recent Sundays. Hopefully with Easter soon and getting brighter in the evening I can get out at 7o'clock after easter some evenings
Tanwen
It's always good when the days start getting longer. I'm waiting for Tesco to update the 'Cycle to work scheme' http://www.bike2workscheme.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKEAjw_bHHBRD4qbKukMiVgU0SJADr08ZZfQ92dlcG8zDFR4UV92mhR_CS5M3fv_F4N4xyfcpViRoCynjw_wcB - I need to get one of the old fashioned 'ladies' bikes...you know, the ones you can step through instead of having to lift your leg over. My hip doesn't have that degree of flexibility any more but copes well with actual cycling
aeimquy159
Ski season is ending so I have to start working out to make up for the 2-5 days a week I've been skiing. Stationary bike and weights here I come! Does anyone else have altitude issues? I live and train at 5000ft over summer but I ski at 10,000ft+ which can be a bit rough early season. iff
need to try to get back into evening cycles during the week. i was fortunate this weekend being a long one with today being a bank holiday. yesterday was very windy with 70-80km/h gales. today is a gorgeous day, beautiful so i got out and did 48km. my timing is a bit off as at the very end, i came across a run/walk. i was stopped for 27 minutes but other than that i was happy enough. Larkaloke
Mostly I've been lifting weights and using a punching bag. I ended up replacing stationary cycling with the punching bag, because I was getting so incredibly bored cycling in place for an hour that I decided I had to switch it up for something. Now that the weather it getting warm and all, I'm hoping to get back into doing more outside. I'm still having some issues turning corners properly on my bike and am still somewhat concerned about riding alone five years after my accident, but my aim is to get over both those issues this year. Next week I'll be doing a lot of hiking, so that's cool; also hoping to get more into canoeing and/or kayaking this year, because those are both things I've wanted to do more of. Also, swimming. Need to find someplace that isn't either an actual lake or a place that I'm trying to avoid in order to do that.
Delete account please
I got to kayak for 4 hours on Saturday. It's a shoulder and core workout. Very relaxing too. For the last two days I loosened bolts by hand that were tightened previously by machine. My muscles are still twitching(which I think means they're building) Lots of walking too! Ammy-G
How do you get in shape, when you hate being outside in the summer, hate all team sports, can't afford most indoor sports activities, and don't have workout equiptment or a lot of space in your house

Even if you have just a small space, some don't need much room. You can do pilates or something that just requires a little floor space Lots of stuff on there, so I bet if you dig, you'll find something you will enjoy!
9Lives
Just two more days before I get to run outside again I am sooooo looking forward to it! Are there any other runners around (and it doesn't matter how long or how fast you run, if you like to run, you're a runner^^)? Also, Ammy-G: 16 hours ago, Ammy-G said: How do you get in shape, when you hate being outside in the summer, hate all team sports, can't afford most indoor sports activities, and don't have workout equiptment or a lot of space in your house Walk or ride a bike to work/school. I mean, you need to go outside to get there anyway, so you might as well make the most of it. Also, always take the stairs, any chance you get. Twice, if you can find an excuse for it. Yoga doesn't require a lot of space or expensive equipment, and there are some pretty good videos on youtube. I'm partial to Yoga with Adriene, but there are many others. Right here! I run 4-6 times a week Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays I go 3 miles. Thursdays I go for 6. Saturdays and Sundays I either do 3, push myself past 6, or don't jog at all and do some other random fun thing for exercise if I feel like it
