Well....here's the great news! I just signed a contract with the new job! Start on Monday! Yay! Off to celebrate!

Which one was it? You had more than one interview, didn't you?

Oh and huge congrats, of course.

Congratulations, @chandrakirti :cake: - that's great news :D

Little Dog is sooo cute, @Mz Terry :) I'm glad he's coping well with the cast, but I hope he'll soon be running around without it!

Almost December now - so much to do! Cards to write, more shopping, baking to do and presents to wrap, for the family Christmas gathering on Saturday week. Anyway, they're much nicer jobs than some I could think of

The gardens are doing well. One of the peach trees is looking as though we may have ripe "Red Havens" for Christmas, and I picked a big bowl of raspberries this morning. It looks as though I'll be able to make raspberry jam this year. On the (slightly) down side, I've been getting up at first light and stealing out into the orchard to make sure the cockatoos aren't stripping the fruit trees  (I haven't seen many of them this year - so far - but there are lots of other birds, including young magpies following their mothers and wailing plaintively for food :P)

I hope everyone's having a good week :)

Yes, great news, @chandrakirti! What type of work is it, and how close to home will it be? Especially after your crazy experiences with your most recent jobs, I hope this one proves to be a keeper! :)

@Mz Terry I'm glad your little pooch is doing good.  The collar is cute, but it does look a bit small as to prevent mischief.:o

@chandrakirti Congratulations on the job!  Whoo hoo.  It must be a relief.  Hopefully, not so much drama this time.:P

I see folks are preparing for Christmas and getting into the holiday spirit.  I can't believe it's almost December already.  November came and went, I barely noticed it!

@chandrakirti Hope the job seeking goes well.

Little Dog is getting very lively so I am hoping that is a sign he is healing up now.  He has a buster collar now but can still get to his cast.  I think we will have to get a longer cone.  His cast is being changed again tomorrow.

He hated the cone when I first put it on him, but has adapted to it very well.

When we got our last beagle in '66, I was four years old. When my father brought her home after being spayed, she didn't have a cone on, but had white tape wrapped around her. My brother and I were upset because we thought they had cut her in half and then taped her back together.

@chandrakirti, congratulations on the new job :cake::cake:

@Mz Terry, New Dog looks like they'll be glad to get deconed, and full of mischief

@Tja, our weather is a bit scatty here, so be prepared for anything from scarves and gloves through to t-shirts and shorts.

@Autumn Sunrise good luck with the harvesting and jam making

Of course! :D You really are having to pack for every season.

But you can safely pack the shorts in the bottom of your bag: because they wont be needed until OZ.

Amazing (and funny) how 'kid logic' works.  I used to wonder why my dad would blithely (although I didn't think that exact word at...I dunno...6 years old) drive past the road signs that said 'Do Not Pass' or 'Pass with Care'.  I figured he should't just drive by those signs when they told him not to.  At the very least, we should all stop at the Pass with Care sign and explain to it why we should be allowed to continue on.

@chandrakirti Congratulations💥 🎊🎉. Wishing you best of luck on Monday 🍀

Thank you all ever so much! I'm sure your rooting for me in the background paid off!

@Midland Tyke  &  @Semisweet It's a full time job with a local pharmaceutical company that delivers medicines, vaccines and medical devices to various chemist chains and the NHS, so I'll be taking orders over the phone and email, then making sure the items are sent according to the specifications and for a better wage than EON , who said I added 'no value' to their business.

@faraday☘ & @Semisweet, I hope I can rest my bones in this job for the next 6 - 8 years as I've had enough needless drama to last me a lifetime! I keep hearing horror stories about even violent episodes that have happened to people in the workplace since I was unemployed. Almost everyone I've met has their own drama story.

The hours are great too, 8.45-5 from Monday till Thursday then 9-4 on Fridays, no weekends , no late night working, two small bus journeys to get there, total is 30 minutes travel, with the bus every ten minutes, so I'm happy about that.

@Autumn Sunrise, I'm drooling at the thought of all that lovely fruit , it sounds like paradise...

@Tja, the highest temperature was 5C today (41F), so I leave you to make up your own mind about that..:D

Kid logic is brilliant @EarthMama, my daughter asked me why I was giving her 'too small' shoes to the charity shop because they would only hurt someone else's feet.

Phew- 369 notifications while I have been off visiting the parental elements in New Jersey for Thanksgiving and my birthday. I am not going to be able to catch up, but what a cute dog, @Mz Terry- I missed the back story about how that cutie ended up with a cast and a collar. I will have to go read back!

Congratulations, @chandrakirti- keeping on sending you good job vibes that this one is finally the one that clicks.

@Autumn Sunrise- I love having friends from the southern hemisphere so I can hear about all the lovely garden plans and fruit coming in when we are looking into the start of a long winter here.

So, one more birthday accomplished- I am now really really out of the 50 group, but I'm not leaving. This is where the action is! It is so nice to be home. I spent 10 days with my parents, and I am lucky to have both of them still. But Maya pup is exhausted, and their futon bed leaves a lot to be desired. I can't wait to get into my own bed! And tomorrow I get to celebrate Maya's 15th birthday. I have had her for 11 months and I can't believe how much I love this dog. She better last a fair amount longer!

Congrats for the new job, @chandrakirti

Happy Birthday to @Mocha Jo and your sidekick.

Great news about your little dog's recovery, @Mz Terry

@Tja you are taking all your necessary things for a month long international trip in a 22" carry-on bag?

I have been on a work trip this week.  On the journey home, I got pulled over in Rawlins for speeding.    Out of nowhere this cop just showed up in my mirror with lights and sirens and pulled me over.  After checking all of my papers (vehicle registration, proof of insurance and drivers license) he just gave me a verbal warning.  When I asked him how fast I was going he wouldn't tell me - only that it was at least five miles an hour over the limit but the only way he could tell me how fast I was going was if he wrote me a citation.  It rattled me a bit because I thought I was being pretty careful to obey the speed limits today.   I suspect I was profiled because of my long hair,  which I usually keep tied back into a tail, but not today.  or maybe it's just a paranoid conspiracy theory.

Happy birthday, @Mocha Jo  Glad you only got a verbal warning, @Muledeer  Sounds as though @Tja's carry-on bag has Tardis-like qualities.

Little Dog had a freak accident, MochaJo, he jumped as I was putting him down, landed awkwardly and broke his leg, low down near the paw.  We have tried a cast, it hasn't worked, and he is having an operation on Tuesday to fix a plate.  The vet is one who is largely an orthopaedic specialist now, and I am confident all will go well, but anxious as well of course.

It is my birthday tomorrow, but I don't feel very celebratory.  I will once he has had his op, hopefully.

@Mocha Jo belated happy birthday 🎂 🎂 :cake::cake:to you and Maya

@Muledeer, sounds to me like you just encountered a bored copper. I'm surprised they don't have ANPR over there. It's a brilliant system which means that the police can tell whether a vehicle is insured MOT'd (an annual roadworthiness test) taxed etc, also whether it's stolen or the owner is flagged for some reason.

Happy Friday. AND December! (You know Christmas is approaching when Skycaptain gets a new name!)

I am off today, but it will be my last Friday off for a while. My workplace is understaffed and I was asked to work "some" Fridays to help out (and I had already volunteered to put in extra hours as needed, so I was expecting this). I will work the remaining Fridays in December and then will see what happens after that. I am glad to be earning extra money but will also miss my day off! Oh well, I'll still have Saturdays.

Today is chockful of appointments and errands.I have to meet with an accountant at 9:00 concerning the estate of my friend who died back in May. I am the trustee and executrix. I will be SO GLAD when this is all over!!!! What a pain it has been dealing with greedy people who are chomping at the bit to get "their" money. I can only proceed as fast as the laws allow. So now the taxes for 2017 have to be dealt with.

Happy birthday yesterday to @Mocha Jo and tomorrow to @Mz Terry!

You stole Hermonie's (from Harry Potter) little beaded bag, but made it more 'mugglish?'

I don't think it's a conspiracy theory at all - with the amped up hostilities in the States, profiling happens.  All.  The.  Time.

My son & DIL used to get pulled over all the time.  He lost his DL quite some time ago, so she does all the driving.  They'd get pulled over because the car was registered in his name.

That car died, and I technically sold them my old one.  We just never completed the title transfer, so the car is still in my name.  They experienced a drastic reduction in pull-overs for stupid stuff.  It's much less of a hassle to drive as a middle-aged woman in this state.

I hadn't noticed the name change - I tend to associate people with their avatars.

Been a boring day here, waiting on recruitment agency sending through the necessary stuff to make me legal. Turns out they put me forward fro the job on the strength of mu CV but I'm not properly registered with them, so there's a to-ing and fro-ing of when and how can I meet one of them before I start work on Monday to fill out the necessaries.<_<

I think they can run the license plates and look up info, but I don't know how much info they can get.

@Mz Terry, I hope they can take care of Little Dog quickly and comfortably! And then you can have a happy birthday! :cake:

Happy December to everyone!
