Hi Hi Y'all!

Following on from this thread http://www.asexuality.org/en/index.php?sho...p;hl=tourmaline

For anyone in the UK on the 17th and 18th November 2009, there is an Awareness Week at The University of Warwick. I am a Warwick grad and so is Energizer. Tourmaline is in her final year there. The week is run by the LGBTUA society and they have organised a number of events to raise awareness about being LGBT, Undefined and Asexual. As an old member of this society I have offered to do a showing of the 30 min part of the BBC doc that Tourmaline, Energizer and myself did that aired in March and i'll speak for a short time and also take questions and answers on the subject. It will last up to 3 hours but I think perhaps a little less depending on the number of questions. i'll bring munchies!

I just wanted to invite you all along as on the Tuesday, Tourmaline will be taking part on a panel of people answering questions on LGBTUA topics (representing the A). This is at 2pm. Both events are at Warwick campus so if you'd like to come along and meet us you're more than welcome to if you can get there. It's actually in Coventry, West Midlands but if you'd like to come we can perhaps arrange for someone to meet you at the train station and get you there and on the Wednesday i'll happy meet you before and return you to the train station after my session on the Wednesday. We don't have overnight accommodation available but if you're local and wish to pop in, we'd be happy to meet ya! Here's the full itinerary. The society has a few asexual members and a few who have graduated such as myself.

The documentary screening was a great success! Tourmaline and Unibabe did a fantastic job of answering questions at the end.

I was pretty annoyed though that AVEN was down yesterday. There were 150 posters put up around campus both to advertise the event and also AVEN - these must have been seen by literally thousands of Warwick students and prospective students (yesterday was also our postgraduate open day!); I don't even want to think about how many potential asexies diligently copied down the address, tried to connect, concluded they'd been given a duff address and quit. :-( I do hope some still make it here anyhow.

On the plus side the event was very well attended (I counted 41; someone else counted 46) and the questions for the most part were quite thoughtful and intelligent.

I should also thank emmarainbow for allowing us to distribute her excellent Q&A leaflet

Hey, from another Warwick grad I wish I could have made it. Sounds like it was a positive experience.

Did anyone take notes of questions asked and people's reactions and general level of interest?
