Sammie
Perhaps...But I know of no unisex toilets anywhere near me. Most toilets don't have a little sign that said 'unisex'. The places to find toilets that are unisex in practice are little cafe's with a single toilet. Places where rent is high so shops don't waste money on more than one toilet. Sammie
I like being able to post trans en genderqueer-positive stuff here, but every now and then I have to post something trans-negative, like this nike-add: The add reads: "THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN GOING TO THE BALLET IS GOING TO THE BALLET TO WATCH YOUR SON" And the little logo at the bottom reads: "RAISE A CHAMPION, NIKE KIDS" and my mind reads: What the ****? Nike, YOU SUCK!
KayleeSaeihr
:: shakes head :: That's not only offensive to male ballet dancers, but to ballet itself, and also nonbinary people.. Nice going Nike...Next time see if you can insult even more people.
Kelly
:o That's awful. Shame on Nike.

Sammie
This may not be most asexuals cup of tea, but it's still worth mentioning: Original Plumbing is a new magazine that focusses on the life and sexuality of FtM's. It is dedicated to show diversity in FtM lives and also does so by showing photoshoots of scantly clad transguys. (mostly still in underwear) The magazine seems very tasteful - for that type of magazine. Here's the link, WARNING: MALE NUDITY and defenitely NOT SAFE FOR WORK http://www.originalplumbing.com/Home.html I'm thinking of getting a copy, mostly because I'm curious about it. Sammie
We may also need a lyrics thread here. There's quite a few lyrics about gender. Today I heared this on the radio: Sharpen up your number two pencils cause the test is beginningYour entering a game of losers and there is no winning Cause people getting nervous, people freak out, people lose control and if you don't like it you can blow it out your blowhole And the girls are losing their minds, and the boys ain't far behind, and the girls are losing their minds and I'm here Check in the appropriate box for boy or girl wondering will it ever stop and who invented this world Now you see the unavoidable is hard to avoid Wake up in your own drool to find out that your future is destroyed And the girls are losing their minds, and the boys ain't far behind, and the girls are losing their minds ...and everyone's losing their minds! Check in the appropriate box for boy or girl wondering will it ever stop and who invented this world Stare into your mommy's eyes, the future's just around the corner Hi, welcome to big burger can i take your order? The FtM singer put his transition on halt to have a better chance at a career in music. , , official website- Athens Boys Choir Another FtM artist in a solo act. Sammie
This may sound silly, but does anyone remember Him from The Power Puff Girls. Despite being called Him he appeared very female. A, yes. The crossdressing villain is a very persistent clichee in cartoons, as if the 'evil queen' who for some reason has a very male facial structure and dressed over-the-top feminine. It goes in the same catagory in which villains are always older, unattractive and always single. message: old + single + crossdressing / feminine but ugly = everything you should not be. Of course such stereptypes are not intention, but they persist none the less.

Sammie
Eddie Izzard gives a fun perspective of transvestites: If you're transvestite you're actually a male tomboy. It's not dragqueen, no, gay men have got that covered. ... so running, jumping, climbing trees, putting on make up when you're up there.
Sammie
Nooooooo, all my gender watch posts here from after 31 dec are gone. I'll repost the most memorable I can think of: two advertisements featuring genderqueerness. For those who do not speak french, the guy is saying: "Hey dad, can you get us into the club?" and the slogan is: "Comfortable in his era, comfortable in his Twingo." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8wnmeRTwmw a beautiful song with some interesting gender-related lyrics: A webcomic about teenagers coming to terms with their gay, queer and trans identities: Khaos Komic gender-related advertising: This add is in Dutch and the words say "for him", "for her"

Sammie
One of the 14 girls in the 11th season of America's Next Top Model is transgender. Isis King was voted off the show after freezing up during a water shoot because she was so nervous about wearing a bikini. According to the panel, she had been delivering unimpressive photo's for weeks before that. Isis was pre-op before the show and got her sex change with financial help from Tyra Banks after the show was over. Isis: . I admire her courage, taking such a public role as transgender. But o my, what a skinny girl. That can't be healthy.

Sammie
The singer of Coyote Grace is my new favorite FtM artist. His voice is amazing and his songs are brilliant. Here's 'daughterson', which describes the FtM experience in a nutshell. the lyrics are a bit incomplete so just listen to the song. More at www.coyotegrace.com Be sure to also listen to the their song 'Guy named Joe' (you know what, I'll just put that one at the bottom of my post, cause everyone shoudl hear it). Daughterson by Coyote Grace My haircut don’t look right, my clothes don’t fit just right, them boy clothes are too big and the girls’ too tight. My feet, they look too small, and I ain’t very tall, I fight with my mom every time I go to the mall. If I can’t be your daughterson, I ain’t nothing at all. My teacher's all up front, Kids won’t leave me and my queenie brother alone. I don’t get picked to be on teams, though I am scrappy and mean, Those girls seem to look right through me. My body has betrayed me, my life is so upsetting. my o my If I had only known about those girls, they saw me all right. But I’m obviously a man, but I sit down on the can, I get shots on the leg by my lady’s loving hand. I got scars across my chest, Dr Brownstein is the best, Ain’t no one can make me wear a dress. Well, just because I’ve done this doesn’t mean you’ve got to do this too. You don’t know what it’s like, now do you? Well, I think there’s a few of you that do. You say I’m going to hell, well I’ve been down that well, And God is a big boy, he can judge people himself. “Don’t mess with God’s design”, well, where do you draw the line? How ‘bout botox, fat pills, warfare, deforestation, laser hair removal, the death penalty… Well, I think I’m doing fine. Well, you’re so scared of everything… And who are you to force me to believe what you think Jesus meant? I grew up under blue skies; the pain has made me wise. My body is my home, I won’t ever be alone, I’ve found my place behind this microphone. Well, I have chose my consequence, I have chosen my name. And I can be your daughterson, ’cause they’re one and the same. And the award for hottest FtM of the year goes to...: .

Sammie
After getting annoyed by a billion shallow gender-representations on Farscape (great show though!) I finally found something positive to say about it. Episode 22 of season 1 has an interesting bit of dialogue. John talks about his father and then Erin says the following: Erin: "I never knew my father. But one night an old warrior visited me. Weary and battle-scared." John: "Your father." Erin: "My mother. She told me about my dad."
