Train to Bedford from London can be 1.5 hours if you take the Thaneslink, but 40 minutes if you take the East Midlands line , both from St. Pancras station. Alternately, I'm happy to come down to London. I hear there's a meetupin London over Easter weekend, so if my work rota doesn't get in the way , I'll be there too. I know the St Andrews church in Bedford , but I must say that Brighton and London have much more going on! Bedford's my compromise between the rush of London (where I lived from 1983-2009) and Skye, which is remote ......my daughter gave me the option of her never visiting me again up in Skye , when she spent one Christmas eve waiting an hour in a snowstorm miles from the nearest town, just to get the only bus going anywhere near me, or me moving closer to civilisation.....well, I suppose that it had to be done... Halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles and is a tourist town with miles and miles of ocean and beach, country, wine country, hills, mountains, dunes, kayaking, all those kinds of touristy things.
