By adding the sexual options you are no longer polling asexuals, you are polling AVEN members.

Maybe they're trying to make a comparison between asexuals and sexuals and their libido, but I don't think the results would be as accurate considering there seems to be (or at least from past polls on the board) less sexuals who participate.

I put down 'low' because I do masterbate, but I don't really know if that's out of libido or not, I just use it to sleep...

But, yeah. So... there.

yeah I put sexuals too, to show that you can have a low libido and still want sex. and it's not what asexual means. because that's what a lot of people assume, we just don't have a high libido. which is untrue for a lot of us

well...I thought if you had no drive then you couldn't really want sex and you wouldn't get any gratification out of it so it wouldn't be pleasant so you wouldn't want it. how could you be attracted sexually if you couldn't feel anything sexually? correct me if I'm wrong. thats just what I assumed

But then those who have low/no libido could only be asexual, which means that asexuals cannot have medium or high libido (or any libido at all).

well not necessarily...because we have drive and no attraction or no drive no attraction. but how can you be attracted with nothing to fuel or cause the attraction? because we have the drive because our body is trying to get us attracted because we were created to reproduce...but it just isn't connecting with our brain....or that's how I see it.

Eh, I still think it might be too much of an assumption to say that people who do experience attraction must have a drive, which also means that if a sexual person loses their drive altogether due to some factor they've then become asexual. But yet then why would some feel the need to seek therapy for HSDD if they didn't want to regain their absent libido to be more on par with the sexual attraction they feel?

I don't see how anyone without a libido could describe themselves as "sexual". It's contradicting.

thats true. but that is for different cases. exeptions to the rule if you will. because they LOST a libido that they had. they want to regain it.

I'm not much of a biologist, but isn't the fact that a person who has no bodily sexuality can still emotionally want sex proven by the popularity of viagra? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding viagra here and missing the point. As I said, I'm no biologist.

I think that would be filed under "low libido, sexual" then.

Having a libido and being sexual seem to go hand in hand. The only difference between a sexual with a libido and an asexual with a libido is that the sexual wants to experience it with someone else (of course).

Someone completely without a libido doesn't even want to masturbate much less desire to have sex with another person. If the libido is "sexual desire" and you don't have a libido, you automatically fit the definition of an asexual. If you want to experience sexual pleasure in any way, you've got a libido. (Or perhaps I'm taking the defition of "nonlibidoist" too far. :))

I'm no biolgist either. ;) I'm just agreeing with the OP's decision to exclude "no libido, sexual" as an option.

Viagra doesn't produce desire/libido. It just enables the person to get and/or keep an erection as a *result* of that desire. Viagra's not a hormone.

Not to sound too graphic, but I only masterbate if I use drugs, which is recreationally.
