Another un-helpful site

It looks like the site is aimed at discussing sex and people who are disabled (missing limbs, etc.).

Mostly, yeah, that's what it's for, but it also says stuff like:

This site is intended to challenge the myths that disabled people are invisible, asexual, unintelligent, undesirable or incapable in any way.
Which suggests that asesxuality *doesn't* exist.... :?

I wouldn't be too harsh- the site is trying to dispell the myth that ALL disabled people are asexual, which in my mind is a worthy goal. Talking about the few disabled (and non) people who are might confuse their message, and there's no real reason too.

i dunno...putting the term asexual next to other clearly durrogatory descriptions like "unintelligent" made me blink. though, being a site focusing on sexuality, you can't expect them to view asexuality in a terribly positive light.

I see asexual used in this context all the time. At first I was just happy that the word asexual was being used. Now however I get annoyed because that's the only context I ever see it in, in the context that it doesn't and couldn't possibly (implied) exist.

I agree with Avenguy, they had no ill intentions, but it's still damn annoying.

I wonder why sexuals would think disabled people wouldn't have a sex drive. I nevered imagined them that way. Maybe because the sexuals think they can't do well in bed. :?

Becasue they're stupid assholes. I mean they like sticking or have body parts stuck into them. Come on people, you've never been there, trust me, it's no big thrill, but these guys are dumb enough to hype it up

I think it may have to do with people finding disabilities to be a sexual turnoff (to them), and so do not like mentally picturing a disabled person having sex. So it's easier to pretend they are sexless beings.

Naturally, no one ought to go around trying to picture other people fucking, in the first place. Fucking bigoted pervs.

I think it may also have to do with the fact that a good number of disabled people -- and probably one of the first images that springs to mind when the average person hears the word "disabled" -- are paralyzed. Numb. Unmoving. The assumption, then, is that such people are physically incapable of sex, and/or don't want it, what with their lack of physical sensation*.

* Which is, I am told, not necessarily a total lack, but quite a bit of one; at any rate, the popular conception of paralyzed people is that their paralyzed bits are totally numb.
