Since cake is such a meme within our society, I was wondering how much everyone actually likes cake.

Is it weird that for a second I kind of thought that the tongue was coming out of the cake instead of the person?

Yes but we love you anyway :D

Love cake, but only specific kinds.  Generally speaking, plain old chocolate or "birthday" cake varieties are safest.

If the cake has any variety of red on it, I'm that much more likely to dislike it.

Nuts are a no-go as well.

Asexual, panromantic, cake is good (especially chocolate) but pie is better.

Cheesecake still falls under the cake umbrella, right?

Double chocolate cheesecake.

Asexual, womaromantic. I like nearly all cakes except ones with nuts, raisins, cherries, or especially coffee. I also dislike pies.

On the matter of pie, the only one I've ever liked was pumpkin.  I'll even prefer pumpkin pie over several forms of cake.

Nuts and raisins need to stay out of my cake and pie and cookies and salad and most of my food really.

Also, pie > cake.

Agree. Raisins ruin desserts!

From Hyperbole and a Half.

This basically describes how I react when I hear there's cake involved.

Asexual, panromantic, and I love most cakes! :cake:

...Just not ones with fruit in. That whole concept makes no sense to me. I have no problem with nuts, but raisins need to stay away from me and my food.  <_<

With the exception of cheesecake (does that even really count?), I don't love cake. If I have to have it, I'd take a well-made dark chocolate cake with no frosting, but given options, I'd choose pretty much anything over cake. 😅

Except fruit tarts. Fruit tarts are nasty.

Cake is good, though I think it's better without the excessive icing.

And yet, I like pudding and ice cream more though. :)

I like cake! Probably my favorite is chocolate and raspberry. But I agree with the general census here that pie is better! Yummy!

Cakeeeee? How much do I like cake?

I like cream cakes and cakes that are light and fluffy. I don't like overly rich cake (so chocolate is a no unless it's lightly sweet) but yeah, I like some cakes

everywhere and nowhere

Asexual (mostly) homoromantic, but maybe rather quoiromantic (I just don't fully get the difference between romantic and non-romantic and don't even think that such a category is appropriate for classifying relationships). I like some kinds of cake. Generally, saying what I don't like is easier. I don't fancy cakes with huge lots of fatty icing (especially if the icing looks cute, but turns out to be quite tasteless*) and I avoid cakes with ingredients I dislike or shouldn't eat, such as:

- coffee (dislike for flavor)

- alcohol (dislike for flavor and disdain for its effects, even though I've never experienced them personally and even though amounts of alcohol in some cakes are unlikely to be psychoactive)

- nuts (never liked them and probably allergic to at least some of them)

- gelatin (I'm a vegetarian)

- some fruits, for example pineapple (dislike for flavor - btw, I competely don't mind pineapple as a tea ingredient)

- coconut flakes (dislike for texture and the way they get between teeth)

*For example I really like checking out photos of rainbow-colored or ombre sponge cakes - I guess this is exactly "foodporn" ;) - but I doubt if I would actually like them, it feels like such cakes are more for looking than for eating... I've also tried eating sugar flowers and discovered they didn't taste good, as if they were only made to look good...

I'm not actually a huge fan of cake, but there are some that I really like. I love coffee cakes, or ones with lots of fresh cream. I'm not a big fan of icing.

I like cheesecake too but mostly just plain ones. I'm not so keen if they're flavoured, have fruit, etc.

Yes to cake unless it contains evil things like baiser (bleh) or the "fruit" that shall not be named. As to the rest... *points at profile information*. And no, it's still not a spectrum :P

I like cake with nuts or with cookies best. Most fruity ones are cool, too (cherries, strawberries, the like).

Seconding the dislike of coffee and booze in cakes :)
