LassieBee Posted October 23, 2017 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I'm doing a presentation at school with my best friend about 10 Common LGBT+ Identities and a "celebrity" to go with each one, however there's very few trans guys that I can find. At the moment I'm going with Chaz Bono (son of Sonny and Cher) but he's not very well known especially to 15 year olds now. The only other people I could find who may fit the description are a porn star (who my best friend says absolutely not to), Miles McKenna (although I thought he's nonbinary?), Alex Bertie and Ryan Cassata. I am trying to stay away from YouTubers though and I was wondering if anyone else could come up with anyone else? Link to post Share on other sites
sarahcasm Posted October 23, 2017 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I don't know a lot about celebrities, but I might have a suggestion for your presentation if you can't find enough for the category. In several gender/ sexuality classes I've had, we've discussed what the lack of representation could mean for a group. So, it might be interesting to look into the idea of trans men possibly being more stigmatized than other groups, or something to that effect. If anything, that can be a backup plan. The tricky part of this conversation I imagine is finding people who are famous for reasons other than being FtM rather than just being notable transguys. You could probably name famous youtubers all day because their thing is visibility efforts and topics that directly pertain to their trans identities. My brain also goes to Thomas Beatie, who was famously known as a "pregnant man," but that again is fame directly tied to his trans identity. Link to post Share on other sites
