Can a magazine article be a wake-up call?

Recommended Posts

I'm new here, I hadn't even heard of asexual until I read an article in a women's magazine. I'm in my mid 40s, I was married for over 20 years. I never enjoyed or sought out sex with my husband. It was a frequent topic, why didn't I take any initiative? Why didn't I show any interest? I let him use me for years and years. I read this article and it was titled could you be an ace?  I thought what the heck is an ace? It totally described me. I love kisses and cuddles but I don't have any desire for sex.

I am now divorced and I am wondering will I ever find a relationship without sex? I have always wanted to be appreciated and cherished by a good man, but I just don't think that exists without a sexual relationship, does it...

I first heard about asexuality in an article I read online. Can't quite remember what it was, but most likely the BBC or Guardian website or such. When I read it I finally had a name for what I had basically figured out on my own.

Relationships without sex exist. I know several aces who are in a relationship with another ace, and I am in one myself.
