Aegosexual??? (Possibly TMI)

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is the wrong section. It was either this or 'Sex and Related Discussions'.

I've been looking through the Lexicon, trying to find what best defines me, but I don't know which is the most appropriate.

If I can't find one, that's okay. I'm not big on specific labels, but it would be nice to know nonetheless.

I find a list makes it easier to work things out, so:

-I'm not attracted to anyone sexually.

-I'm repulsed at the idea of having sex with another person.

-I masturbate often, but I don't have sexual thoughts at the time (I could be reading an article on psychology, or watching something random on YouTube, etc)

-Masturbating isn't necessary for me. I usually do it when I'm on my phone with one hand, and have the other free. I usually fidget, so I guess it's just another way to occupy my hand.

-I don't need it, but I find that porn makes the process faster. The more physical an rough kind usually work better.

-When looking at pornography, I don't feel any different, it doesn't arouse me by itself. I guess it acts as a sort of catalyst? Useless by itself, but helpful to speed up a reaction.

I found this in the Lexicon:

Aegosexual/Autochorissexual- A person with a disconnect between themselves and the target of their sexual attractions/desires.

I think that would be the closest from the list, but if anyone has other suggestions, that would be helpful.

(It's 3:30pm. I drank a Monster about 8 hours ago. Surely that's not enough caffeine?)

Yes, I think that might be the case. The word "autochorissexualism" was coined by Anthony Bogaert and is classified as a paraphilia rather than a sexuality. I don't know where "anegosexual" originates from, but it describes the same phenomena. Just like it says in the lexicon, it describes a person with a disconnect between themselves and the target of their sexual attractions/desires. According to this source, autochorissexuals (aka anegosexuals) are known to...

  • Get aroused by sexual content but not actually want to engage in any sexual activities

This seams to be accurate to what you describes. Although you say that "it doesn't arouse [you] by itself," but also that it "makes the process faster." I don't know how to interpret that, but my guess is that it it does arouse you, but doesn't have a strong enough effect to initiate arousal unless it's accompanied by physical stimuli(?) Of course I can't tell for sure because I'm just a second hand source of the experience having read only a short summary of your experiences and I'm not a qualified expert.

Quote
  • Masturbate, but are neutral or repulsed by the idea of having sex with another person.

This also seams to be accurate to what you described.

Quote
  • Fantasize about sex, but envision people other than themselves, and/or view it in third person, as though they're watching it on TV, rather than imagining it in first person, through their own eyes.
  • Predominantly or entirely fantasize about fictional characters or celebrities, rather than people in real life they know.

N/A, you said that you don't fantasize at all. However...

Quote
  • Identify as asexual and feel no sexual attraction to people, but enjoy masturbating, are aroused by sexually explicit content, and/or have sexual fantasies.

...in this last point it clarifies that autochorissexuals are aroused by sexually explicit content, and/or have sexual fantasies, so fantasies aren't mandatory.

Asexual Wikia doesn't hold the One True Definition of the phenomena, (nor does it claim to do so), but I think it captures the general idea well enough. And as far as I can see, your experiences match it pretty well. But of course, only you can decide what to identify as.

It's anegosexual, it's misspelt everywhere and it annoys me
