Not particularly surprising. I'm surprised authority is that high though.

I always seem like a contradiction when I look into where I am on politics. Like, I want little/some government interaction, but people just cannot govern themselves for the better of the world.

Dumb questions:

"My nation is great."

Does not measure values, only value (mis)match with one's current location (or, how things are rather than how one thinks they should be, which is what political stance actually means.) Probably agreeing increases nationalism score, but a globalist in a globalized nation could rightly agree with this.

"My religious values should be spread as much as possible."

My religious values are "dude, chill the fuck out. Live and let live." Increased religious acceptance would be great, but in that case saying "yup, spread tolerance" is almost certainly increasing the traditionalism score.

"Our nation's values should be spread as much as possible."

Again, this seems to be nationalism/traditionalism. So if our nation's values are cosmopolitan... you see where this is going.

"The stronger the leadership, the better."

dafuq does this even mean? Leaders are not personally punching Nazis or building roads. I can only assume it means "effectiveness." Who the hell wants incompetent leaders?

"A better world will come from automation, science, and technology."

Capitalism as is: everyone starves

Socialism, Communism, or even just capitalism + safety net: the above sounds good

You cannot answer this question in a vacuum.

"Society was better many years ago than it is now."

Nobody has a time machine to check, and even if you did (or try to extrapolate from books), the present society has instilled biases that you don't even realize are biases because they seem like background noise. Unanswerable.

"It is important that we maintain the traditions of our past."

'The traditions of our past' includes everything from Ailan Kastom to throwing atheists off of buildings.

"No cultures are superior to others."

If you say disagree, you are likely considered traditionalist or nationalist. So I hope no progressives want to change any culture! You think America is sexist? Get off your high horse, you're no better than they are!

"Gun ownership should be prohibited for those without a valid reason."

Valid isn't defined by the question, it's left up to the reader. "It should be illegal for people I think should be allowed guns to have guns" is uh... whaaaa?

"Maintaining family values is essential."

I get that "family values" is Republican for "be a dick to anyone who doesn't aspire to be just like 'I Love Lucy,'" so obviously I'm going to answer disagree. But like... what does it ACTUALLY mean? That's an action, but a value is a belief. What beliefs specifically comprise 'family values'? And surely if there are valueSSSSS, people may support some but not others? No other question, even the dumb ones, alludes to such a nebulous concept.

"To chase progress at all costs is dangerous."

Huh, I stand corrected.

Define progress. Some people consider cutting down the Amazon to be progress. I don't. Or is that "progress at a cost?" I have to say agree just because grey goo is a thing.

"Genetic modification is a force for good, even on humans."

Is uranium refinement a force for good? Are things not allowed to be tools that can be used for both good and evil?

"It is important that we further my group's goals above all others."

Sorry, objectively, if you have an opinion, you think it's the rightest and want it more than any alternative. If you thought a different stance deserved equality or precedence, you would be ambivalent/undecided or support the other idea instead. This question is silly.

Got about what I suspected, but only because I was able to tell the connotation of these questions. Not a fan of the term "libertarian," but maybe that's just because of the party of the same name. I don't think anyone in the libertarian party would touch me with a 90 foot pole with a red bar like that.

Completely unsurprised by this result. https://8values.github.io/results.html?e=76.2&d=75.5&g=70.0&s=73.2

Never really thought of myself as libertarian at all though and I don't imagine many actual libertarian parties would like me, but there you go.

Edited: tried to insert picture. Failed miserably.
