Never watched porn

I'm a 23 (nearly 24) year old female and I don't recall ever watching any porn in my life. I remember I watched a Louis Theroux documentary about the porn industry but that's about the extent of it. I've never felt the need or urge to.

Is this just a personality thing? Or is it an asexual/grey-ace thing?

Hmm, maybe both.

I was around that age when I ended up buying porn for the first time.

To be honest you aren't missing much.

For the most part it is just a repetitive motion of stories and scenes.

I did find if fascinating when I was young because it was forbidden and I was curious.

Sometimes I like it because I get a little bit of a thrill, which is cool, I don't really have orgasms.

So, long story short, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've never watched porn. I have seen a sex seen in a movie, but have never felt any inkling to plop down at my computer and google..... whatever you google to make porn happen :P I've been called strange for it by friends just because they couldn't believe I wasn't curious, but I just never was. I have, however, read some smut, so I'm not completely out of that world. That might just because I read a lot of books, particularly ones with love plot lines, and sometimes they get, ya know, intimate  I just don't feel a need to watch

I know some ace folks watch porn to help them pleasure themselves. However, it makes sense that this community might not be huge fans of that particular industry ;)

Imo you don't miss out on anything. It is weird, forced, not arousing at all and the industry behind it is terrible.

I never watched porn either simply because I always disliked / hated it and I'm not gonna start with it anytime soon. I watched some erotic blockbusters but that's not the same.

Oh yeah I've seen a TON of sex scenes on tv and in films; literally every film aimed at adults will have at least one sex scene hahaha but I totally agree! I would see them and never thought about going onto my computer to search out stuff

Yeah I just don't get it. Personally, seeing as I have little to no interest in sex, why would I want to watch strangers doing it?

God yeah I've read some quite graphic sex, rape etc scenes in books (I don't read erotica, but some of the books I do read contain sexual elements or even entire paragraphs). I'd either just read it without any emotions or skip past it, especially as a lot of the time, it doesn't add anything to the storyline

I watched a porn video out of pure curiosity when I was 17. Not enjoyable. From my point of veiw, sex feels good when I have it in a comfortable and super-private setting with someone I desire, not when I watch/see others doing the deed.

Visual Porn honestly doesn't do anything for me.

I'm more a fan of reading my porn if you will, but not the trashy Harlequin Novels, I read those if i wanna poke fun at the horri-bad writing.

I've never watched porn either, for several reasons. Firstly, I'm a shy and religious Christian so it has always seemed to be a sin, secondly, even when I'm reading articles on Wikipedia about things such as circumcision or ejaculation (don't ask me why), I cover the pictures with my hand, so it's kinda obvious that random people having sex aren't something I would like to watch. I just can't hold nudity.  And thirdly, I've never felt that I need it or want it, even for curiosity.

I'm working my way through his stuff on Netflix, and this is the next episode on the list.

, sensible people don't Google porn, that is how you end up with porn ads and end up a spokesperson for 55 gallons of Lube on Facebook for Amazon (well that one involved mocking such a product on Facebook and Amazon pay Facebook to make it a sponsored post ). How they actually get it, I have no idea, think word of mouth and it grows from there.

Let me introduce you to Chuck Tingle  (it's one of those so "WTF?!!?" kind of things, and we may get a review of one of his books soon )

I once knew a jerk who got off on spoofing urls so that links to porn websites looked like something harmless to click on.  He was a creep, and somehow he thought that if he bombarded me with enough sexuality it'd catch.  This was before I realized I was asexual, and I think I only let him stay on my friend's list for as long as I did because I felt that I deserved to be punished for not conforming to heteronormality by enabling this guy to sexually harass me.  But, yeah, I didn't really get anything out of watching porn.  At it's best, it can be funny, or really honest to god cute when the actors do a good job at convincing the audience of their connection, but the sex itself is bleh.

I don't think its really necessarily one or the other, or both or neither. Maybe because of your asexuality it has made you less inclined to seek it out or maybe because you dont care to watch to strangers "wrestling", or maybe you just have a healthy personal constitution and dont find it something that is good to contribute to by being a viewer. Either way good for you :) Although I know plenty of women who are sexual and its never occurred to them to watch porn either.  I wanted to do some research for you and find out maybe if there is a particular variable that might explain and give data and statistics but I cannot seem to find a reliable resource (salon.com, the bustle, cosmo, buzzfeed and huffington post are not reliable unfortunately)

Most of the porn feels the same... And I simply never watched it that much based on my pickiness. It simply takes too long to find something interesting, I'd lose the interest meanwhile... Still the same stereotypes there.. Between man and a woman especially, but also stereotypes between guys and huge amount of conformity and norms.. I'd feel like doing something that someone else just ordered me to do. The same like listening only pop-music..

There's nothing special, nothing artsy, erotic, intelligent, a bit sensitive, no concept or interesting context. I am not surprised youre not into it:)

No problem with the explicit nudity or the sexual act for me, but the concept and purpose of producing those films is kind of empty.

That's where it's not interesting neither arousing for me any more.

I have seen pornography ... out of curiosity of what my ex was watching. But, I have no interest in it for myself. Personally, the only person I don't mind seeing naked is the person I am dating at the time. So, porno is both uncomfortable and does nothing for me.

To be honest, it could just be a female thing, not an asexuality thing. The visual porn industry is very much marketed towards men, and it's actually pretty degrading to women a lot of the time.

I have many sexual friends and only one of them besides me watches porn, the rest read fanfiction or simply use their imagination to get off. So you're not alone!

As a graysexual, I actually do watch porn to get off. If you want to try it as a graysexual, here's my advice: Do not watch it unless you're actually horny!!!!!!! If you just go on to "study" it or whatever when you are not aroused, you'll probably find it disgusting, because as a graysexual it might not get you aroused automatically in the same way it would a sexual. Wait until you are getting feelings of arousal, start with something vanilla (there is sort-porn marketed to women out there!) And then see what happens. You might actually enjoy it, who knows! I know sometimes if I'm aroused, visual porn is easier and more fun than just "using my imagination" to get off.

Good luck!

That's good that you haven't watched porn before. Admirable, intelligent. I hate low class crude sorts of things.

Why do you equate the watching of porn with non-intelligence?

I heard somewhere that 85% of 12 year olds are watching pornography

Both sexes and all genders of 12-year-olds? Just asking as a 52-year-old guy who could be behind the times in his understanding of some things.

PhilboPenton, I actually don't, I guess. But I just think that it's intelligent to keep away from things society dislikes.

i don't know what others would call it, but in my book, it's a humane thing to not watch porn. humans shouldn't be inclined to watch other people make love (especially how fake and graphic the internet makes it). i don't thing it's right. so kudos to you for not partaking in that mess! and i suggest you don't start because it's easy to get addicted. [trust me, i would know <_<] it's a sleazy waste of your time. i'd be more proud about not watching it than concerned if i were you lol.

Please refrain from shaming others for their choice to engage in pornography or not.

Discussing the merits of it is allowed, but please keep the conversation from making those who choose to engage feel less than.

Me neither  I'm a little curious about it but not enough to bother for now. I'm not worried about addiction because I'm sure it'll gross me out after 5 minutes when I do get curious enough to take a look.

To answer your original question, the proportion of people who watch porn is very probably less high among ace people, you are definitely not alone in this.
