Many, many times. Sometimes, I've gone through with it. Can't say I've ever regretted it either. Sometimes I don't. Usually because I decide it isn't worth the effort. Or rather, they are not worth the effort.

Depends on whether I know and trust the person (I actually had someone tell me that I should check out that horrid Two Girls One Cup thing, because he thought it would be "funny"...good thing I googled what it was first, and spared myself), and whether the subject matter sounds interesting.

Link to post

it would depend on the person, but I think I personally wouldn't mind, it would be a little sad, but if your technology was enough to be relevant at one point, you can be glad you helped shape history/the world... so I personally think it would cause a sadness (because you aren't really relevant anymore) but also happiness (because you were)... that weird mix feeling between the two...

why do I have 6+ bug bites on my one hand and none on my other??...

Hmm. Not sure, but it may have something to do with why I have *counts* at least 4 scars on my left hand and none on my right.

Speaking of, why/how do I have no scars on my right hand?

The scars promised each other not to venture to that side, or the wrath of Scar (the lion) would be upon them.  Either that or you just haven't hurt yourself on that side.

Why is it so difficult to find an air purifier with all the features I need?

It is but it's a secret.  You have to be part of the cool secret society to talk with others about it.  The problem is the society was active 10 years ago, and will be active again 10 years from now.

Are we all players in someone else's dream?

That is one of many possibilities, seeing as we cannot even be certain what we think just happened was our doing, or we popped into existence this very second, and we just have this inbuilt understand of what we think came before.

With automation looking to replace the human workforce by the end of the century, why are governments around the world trying to create "crap" jobs, instead of push socialist policies which would serve better in a world where no one works?

Link to post

Because progress for the multitudes undermines the hoarding desires of the rich.

Everything (including memories) is fake and was created on the most recent Tuesday

In Lord of the Rings, Gandalf was able to carry the ring with the pincers, to take it out the fire. And a few people touched the envelope that was holding it in Bilbos house... Could it be Frodo and the crew more resistant to the power of the ring, if he'd carried it inside a backpack?

Link to post

Possibly, but the ring had some semblance of intelligence, so it would probably work it's way out through a hole in the bag and wait for someone else to come along. I did wonder why he and Sam didn't swap off with it, though.

What if we are the reflection in the mirror and this mundane world is just what we're forced to do while waiting for the real us to look at themselves? And they're off fighting dragons and such?

Well yes, but what if they are eaten by dragons and if the dragons look in the mirror we die?  Lots of possibilities

Ok I am gonna answer this one really seriously because I'm quite invested into Elephants and love Dung Beetles... (spoiler for length)

Spoiler

A lot more Dung Beetles than elephants.

Why is the thing golfers use to balance their ball at the start called a "tee"?

Link to post

Exactly 1:1. Each elephant gets a dung beetle assigned to it the moment it's born.

Oops got ninja'd, so I'll answer the other one too:

Because other pieces of golf equipment called dibs on the letters A to S.

From Wikipedia:

Quote

The word tee is derived from the Scottish Gaelic word taigh meaning house and is related to the 'house' (the coloured circles) in curling. This would make sense, as the first golf tees were within a circle of one golf club length round the hole. Nowadays, modern courses have separate, designated tee boxes for each hole. For example, the ninth hole of a course is played from the ninth tee to the ninth green, and similarly for the other holes.

Again, from Wikipedia:

Quote

Puce is the French word for flea. The color is said to be the color of bloodstains on linen or bedsheets, even after being laundered—or from a flea's droppings, or after a flea has been crushed.

Can I just say ew?
