Name for Agender partner?

I am currently writing a book where a character identifies as agender. I was curious to whether or not there is a gender neutral/ agender term for a romatic partner. I have been considering the word "datemate" but it seems out of place for the other character that they are dating to say something like that.

So... any ideas?

I just see "partner" or "spouse".  Here are a few from Everyday Feminism (consume at your own risk, sometimes they're weird): Partner, lover, significant other, boo (gross) and goyfriend (wtf?).

personally I wish everyone would just use the term partner no mater what their gender or emotional attraction.

I'd want "partner" to be used for me.

Partner is a nice common vague word.

Other than things already suggested, I have seen "signif" and have had it used for me, though this is not a widely known term. I think it sounds a little better and easier to say than "significant other" or "SO" but means the same thing.
