Growing Your Own: What did you grow / raise / harvest?

Yesterday, I pruned all of the fruit trees.  Apple, pear, and plum.   It has been a few years since they were pruned, and I like to get that task done before they break bud.  These trees were planted by my father about sixty years ago.  I don't really like fruit, but I keep them going and give away the fruit they produce, which diminishes each year.

My apple trees were my dad's, and he grafted them too. They are about the same age as yours.

The seed sowing has begun...

I've got spinach, bell peppers, and two different types of tomato seeds in my kitchen windowsill here waiting to germinate. I also bought a couple of seed potatoes yesterday- I'm going to try growing spuds this year!

I'm crossing my fingers hoping that I stored my seeds from last year properly, so that they're still viable and didn't die over the winter. I'm especially anxious about the tomato seeds, because those were the first seeds I've ever harvested/cleaned/dried myself directly from organic tomatoes. We shall see in a few weeks!

I wish I lived closer. 🍎🍐🍇

(No plum emoji, so had to settle for grapes, but like plums better!)

Update: All of the tomato seeds have now sprouted! I'm so relieved! I've also got a few spinach leaves poking up out of the dirt now. Still no activity yet from the peppers or potatoes, but I think those usually take a bit longer to sprout.

I have a bed of hostas in my back garden. Eighteen months ago I collected seeds from them and stored them over Winter before propagating them in Spring. I produced about 30 healthy but quite small new plants, all of which got planted out (I raised them in pots) before Summer had finished. I'm now waiting to see how many of them have survived into a second year. Fingers crossed!

Germany just passed a law that permits every adult to grow/own up to 3 cannabis plants for personal consumption. I'm looking to cultivate one or two plants, although I'm not even concerned about harvest, the plants are just really great CO2 converters and look very nice. remind me of Japanese lace leaf maple, which would definitely be too large to grow in my flat. Most of my house plants are air cleaning plants and do well without any additional lights or supplements.

I'm glad, this country finally decriminalized casual consumption. The law goes into effect April 1st. No joke 🤣

Yesterday, I mowed at least a quarter of an acre with a push mower.  I took it in for repairs today, as it coughs and sputters but never really dies.  I have pansies planted in pots.

Also have seeded some bare grass areas on the lawn.  I would rather not grow a lawn, but that's what is there.  Some of the vegetable seeds will be planted next week.

@Nima  I wish you success growing your cannabis plants.  I didn't know that Germany had legalized it.  Nothing gives me greater joy than cultivating and harvesting cannabis.  If it were legal here I would grow it more often.  It thrives in my greenhouse, or anywhere else, after all, it IS  just a Weed.

@Tyke I had to look up what a hostas plant is.   Canna Lillies. They look exotic.  I have some fake hostas as house plants.

I always thought a push mower was this sort:

hq720.jpg?sqp=-oaymwEhCK4FEIIDSFryq4qpAx

But apparently that is a manual reel mower, and push mowers have engines. All I knew was that we had to really push the reel mower!

(they do make a much nicer sound, but you have to work for it)

Anyway, I would be very impressed if anyone mowed a quarter of an acre with a manual reel mower. :D
