I'd say no. I'd be willing to work as a medic, to help out when and where needed. But if we were being actually invaded? If someone came and invaded, leaving us unable to escape to other nations? I don't know, I guess I would. You can only run so far, and we know the land, invaders wouldn't. Someone has to protect those who can't protect themselves. I would help, preferably as a medic, but I'm not sure how far I would be willing to go if pushed.

I would attempt to defend the lives of  my family members and friends, locally.  I would not stir one finger to defend the current administration of the US, if that's what's meant by "country".

I would defend my friends and family if it came to it, and if we were invaded then I may join a local militia, but I wouldn't join the military.  I have no special love just because I happened to be born here.

Yes because a country is only composed of the government..

Nope! I don't do flags, national hymns, or anything else patriotic. I would defend a cause, people, an idea, even a place (like a forest from deforestation) but not a country, as I am against borders in the first place :P

I don't understand being proud of where you are from -- I can say I'm happy to live in a country where there is no war, but why would I be proud?

Also, I'm against wars in general and I don't believe they are a necessary part of humanity, and they mostly just exist because some people make money off them.

yes, but I would probably be deemed unfit for a combat role. But if we were pointlessly invading another country then I wouldn't be so happy about fighting. I am proud to be an American and I would stand for this nation despite the bad political choices our country has made.

Defend the USA? A capitalist hellhole that is ruled by corporations? Pfft, no.

I'd defend my people though, you can take that however you wish.

I could not say what kind of potent stupidity would make someone think the most prosperous and powerful country in the world is a hellhole? For fuck sake, people risk prosecution coming here illegally. Oh, the U.S. is run by corporations? No it's not. Even if it were, I would think that is better than large-authoritarian government. Of course, though idiots who fight against capitalism will fight for oppressive, draconian, and authoritatian governments.

It is the might of the American economy that allows it to be one of the most charitable countries on earth. As usual, idiocy likes to rear its head about the U.S. Herp a derp.

By the way, this is actually coming from someone who considers herself a hybrid capitalist and socialist.

I'm american so the definition of "defend your country" has usually meant "invade another country that in context has relatively low impact on your country". So... No.

That's materially incorrect. A great deal of the wars the U.S. has been involved in were started by someone else.

This was not supposed to post twice. IDK why it did.

Not a chance.  I'll defend myself and that which I love (poorly, because I am no fighter), and I have no particular love for the country I am in.

I'm quite possibly the least patriotic person I know. There's absolutely no way I'd do anything to defend my country in the event of wartime.

I'll be the first to admit I am a coward. Come a draft, I will most definitely be dodging, and already have my parents' seal of approval on that.

We can't even handle Barbados infringing on our sea border/ flying fish issues muchless for a full scale war. By the time the war is announced we would have lost so no.😂

I think it isn't a yes/no question. If my country has decided to bring destruction then not only would I not I would actively work against my country. It depends on what my country's aims are.

Depends on the country invading. If the USA (or any western power) decided to annex Canada one day I couldn't be bothered to fight back. If it was some dictatorship doing it then sure I'd fight.

I said yes after pondering the question. I wouldn't join the army or anything (even if they would take me with my dodgy health) but if Australia went all Tomorrow When The War Began I would be out there stampeding herds of cattle across bridges and creating spider jar grenades.
