You're not alone in feeling like this. I don't like tampons either. To me, the thought of sticking something inside of myself grosses me out and for that reason I've never once used a tampon. Next to that, when I found out that toxic shock syndrome can happen from them, I was even more grossed out.

I don't personally (sex repulsed ace), but my friend Rae (sex neutral gray) does! She doesn't like ANYTHING going *in there* at all. I'm not sure if sex repulsion or asexuality would cause this, though it is interesting to ponder.

I've always been squeamish about tampons as I don't like being even mildly aware of their presence (I could always feel them). Strangely though I've become quite a fan of the menstrual cup ( the one that seems to most freak people out!) as once I got over the insertion part I couldn't feel it at all. I'm not sex repulsed though; more indifferent, and am quite comfortable with my body so perhaps that makes a difference. I think subconsciously TSS was always on my mind with tampons but menstrual cups have never been known to cause that as far as I'm aware.

I’m not sex repulsed – I’m not even asexual, but I absolutely can’t use tampons. I love the feeling of a penis, but it’s when I’m ready and willing – not for some hygiene reasons. So it’s not just about asexuality – doesn’t have to be.

I've never used a tampon and do not want to either, I also never had sex and never want it. I'm in my late 20's as well and do not masturbate, I hate the feeling when I wash or wipe. I heard that tampons hurt so I'll stick with pads.
