I thought this was interesting and informative.

I decided to share in hopes of getting other impressions on it.

I won't say I agree with it completely, but it made sense to me.

So, this video is saying that all of these weird expectations started because of a plethora of historical hype men and hype women? I can actually see how that can be the case. After all, too much hype can kill a lot of things in my perspective. TV shows, movies, all of it. It seems that as humans, some of us are just drawn to express our opinions in ways that tend to make people pick a side on whether something is good or bad, rather than to just remain neutral on the subject and see as many different perspectives as they can before forming their own opinion. Herd mentality sucks sometimes, doesn't it?

Mobs of anything terrify me.

A stampede is a horrifying thing.

Be it physical or ideological.

In some ways, in the way you expressed hype, I think that romance is a lot like an infomercial.

It promises all these things that require no effort, but later on turn out to be scams.

At least that is one interpretation.

I'm starting to mostly agree. I definitely have been let down by the reality of romance compared to the idea of it. It's gotten to the point that I may not actually desire romance as strongly as I once did. Using people or cheating weren't even thoughts in my head until much later. I'd rather see the truth though.
