Randomchaos
I consider myself asexual repulsed because the thought of someone touching me is nasty. But I'm okay with hetero and homo sex scenes. In fact I was watching Orange is the New Black and I was okay with the sex scenes but not so much the random shower scenes with naked women in the scene. Which isn't as revealing as the sex scenes. Just kinda confused lol.
nanogretchen4
I haven't seen the show in question, but is it possible that the sex scenes advanced the story about the characters' relationships while the shower scenes were completely gratuitous nudity?

MoraDollie
Depending on how old you are, lots of folks in the younger age bracket (15 and younger) tend to be uncomfortable with sex/nudity/etc. Orange is a TAD bit graphic with their things, but the amount of sex scenes severely decrease as the seasons go by. For that reason, I feel like it's mostly done for the "shock" factor, especially with season 1.
Fatima
The shower scenes in OITNB are meant to depict female bodies as they are, in all of their realness, without all of the airbrushing & anorexia. So you see female bodies of all colors, shapes & sizes. It can be kind of shocking & perhaps even off putting, & I think that was intentional. I think it's a groundbreaking show for feminism & the women's movement, in particular lesbians, as well as women of color & trans-women. I'm totally put off by people I don't love touching me, but I'm definitely not touch averse with close friends, family & partners. Especially with partners, cuddling & holding one another is our primary form of intimacy. I'm definitely sex repulsed though, & I'm always kind of grossed out or put off by sex scenes in movies & tv shows. I used to watch The L Word & Queer as Folk fanatically, two of my favorite gay tv shows, and I was never a big fan of the many explicit sex scenes in both series. I even had a little bit of an ace crush on one of the actors from QAF, & I felt kind of uncomfortable, grossed out & even a little visually assaulted watching him do intense "rough" sex scenes. Media depicting sex can be a good medium for asexuals anywhere on the spectrum to take advantage of, when trying to determine what grosses us out & puts us off, versus what might appeal to us, for those who are, say, demi or grey-A. For me, everything other than light kissing, cuddling & maybe some light touching can be gag inducing.
butterflydreams
OITNB isn't really my kind of show, so I haven't watched it. But I've had people tell me to watch Sense8, which I've heard has a similar (if not worse problem). I like the Wachowski's a lot, but I've become a lot happier avoiding those kinds of shows. It's distracting to me, and makes me uncomfortable. I suppose it's all context. I'm not universally sex repulsed. I think a lot of it might be due to the surprise, because a very small segment of porn doesn't bother me. If you look that up, you know exactly what you're getting, there's no surprise. One of my favorite shows that did really well with this was the X-Files. They grazed the idea of Mulder and Scully as a couple a few times, and towards the end of the original series, it did fall apart, but for several seasons, they were just coworkers. I always really liked that. If they hadn't been like that, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the show.
Randomchaos
That's the same for me in OITNB if it weren't for the relationship between the main and her ex-girlfriend I wouldn't really care about it. I'm just kind of surprised that the sex didn't bother me it was the random nudes and random nipples o.o
