How many spaces do you type?

I was never taught typing in school. I generally use 1 space, though I've occasionally done a "Find and replace" for '. ' to '. ' when I've had a paper due based on page length, and I'm scraping for extra lines at the last minute (not that it actually does much).

I always have put one space as that was how I was taught but last semester I found out from a writing in psychology professor that APA actually requires 2 spaces (but it is not highly enforced by most people- he didn't even enforce it but made us aware because he once had to go through a whole paper to correct each sentence (back when he was in college)).

I always put TWO spaces after the full stop (period). I think my mum(my) taught me that. I can't actually remember. I always think about this, when I type, since I can't remember exactly where I learned this or if other people do this.

I never knew that typing two spaces was a thing. Over here some people started to type spaces before punctuation marks which annoys me to no end.

Why , please tell me , would you do this ?

*cringes* Typing like that pretty much is the mark of a Card-Carrying Villain, in my book. :p
