You know, I have heard this phrase compuslory sexuality used before in articles related to asexuality. However, I still don't know if there is any definition for it at all. I have yet to see anyone really define what it is, or whether or not it is an actual psychological or scientific merit. So, I can't seem to find anything on it. So, can you guys define what compuslory sexuality and all the while does it exist too? What are some signs of compulsive sexuality? Also, how do you react to compulsory sexuality, provided it exists? I need a little bit of explaining.

Tyger, could you possibly change your font color? It's really difficult to read.

"Compulsory sexuality refers to a set of social attitudes, institutions and practices which hold and enforce the belief that everyone should have or want to have frequent sex (of a socially approved kind)."

Honestly just write 'compulsory sexuality' in google and the first page is full of this information. So yeah it exists, but usually in the form of compulsory heterosexuality, another term that you will find in that first page a lot.

What are the signs:

-All those cientific articles saying that sex is good for you, the more sex, the more successful and fruitful you are in life.

-Advertisements mainly revolve around the idea of sex as key to sell their products.

-Dehumanization of disabled and neurotypical people who can't or want to have sex, as well as asexuals. Also, feeling pity.

-The Bible and other Sacred Books say that sex is necessary for usefulness in life.

-Having kids/having sex is rewarded by society.

-"You've not even tried sex, how do you know you are asexual?"

-Asexuality's own invisibility.

I react sometimes with disgust and uncomfort but I have no other option than becoming insensitive to it and carry on.

I think of compulsory as something one is obligated to do. Which, as we know, when it comes to sex, isn't true. I think, for some of us (myself included), we shared sexual intimacies, because, that's what we thought we were meant to do. Now, understanding, I'm a demi rom, no wonder it was never good, except, with my husband. Even with him, there are things I enjoy more.

Hmm. I think that (hetero)sexual normativity is a better phrase, because you can't make sex compulsory or mandatory...

OK. I changed it. Sorry about that. Hope it's better now.

I have an example of compulsory sexuality. When people ask you for advice on their (sexual) relationships, because you never complain about yours, so you must know some secret to make them work out perfectly. Because the idea that you don't complain about your sexual relationships is because they don't happen doesn't occur to them. Because, of course, you would complain about the lack of them.
