Is there a difference in the way asexual people and nonasexual people view porn?

Sorry if this question is vague its hard for me to put into words what im trying to ask. My understanding is porn doesnt confirm a persons sexual orientation but im wondering since asexuals dont experience sexual attraction and sexuals do, are they looking at porn in different ways? I also dont think i fully understand sexual desire but im wondering how that is involved?

Clearest imaginable answer: "maybe yes".

Research setup: Take groups of porn consumers, let them either cut raw footage together or have them shoot it. - Maybe 1 sexual & one asexual at each set. - Compare results.

Or register how clips are consumed by the various groups. - Setups registering how people "scan" stills did exist. Fastforwarding, scene repeating and such should be easy to register and attention to running footage might be measurable.

For me porn doesn't need to display sexual interaction.

They can; some do and some don't. Some need to be sexually attracted to a person in the erotica to be aroused by it. Some only imagine that person doing those things to them as they watch the erotica. What do you mean by your last sentence?

I would imagine yes. For me, I want to see lust and physical beauty, not necessarily (and not usually)explicit sexual acts.

I can watch porn or read erotica of a certain type, and while beauty is fairly important, for me it is more the "lust" and act itself, but it is JUST about that for me, and possible scenarios in my head - it's like when you get hungry, you eat, only less acceptable in public.

There's no PERSONAL physical attraction for me - naked women (since I'm straight) don't really trigger anything (on TV, and I've never wanted to go to a strip club), except awkwardness.

Depends on the ace.

If they are sex-averse/repulsed they will likely find it somewhat disgusting. If they are sex favorable then I doubt there is much difference at all.

In all honesty im not really sure, I get confused by what these terms really mean. I guess what im asking is if you are imagining that the person is doing those acts to you is that sexual desire?

Oddly enough, I'm a frequent viewer of porn. I'm never attracted to the actors themselves, but by the act itself. I imagine the act being done to me, by someone I really know well (I've been fantasizing about the same person for years now). I imagine that sexuals are sexually attracted to actors, and fantasize about having sex with them. This might be tmi, but I have an extreme fear of certain sex acts, so I'm really limited to the videos I can stand to watch. That's just a personal thing though. I'd have to agree with an earlier comment, that it depends by the asexual. However, I'd still say that sexuals are more attracted to the actors, while asexuals just like to see and fantasize about the act, it anything.

I look at porn with repulsion and disturbance, so I'm assuming I view it differently than many sexual people as many sexual people watch pornography frequently.

I think this will vary widely within the sexual population, since it's so vast and all. A significant chunk of sexual people don't like porn at all. Even among those who do there are differences between people who get really into the content of the porn (the actors and the act), and those who (like many asexuals) only use it as a two-dimensional source of physical arousal without any actual attraction to the people in it or what's being done. Some people watch it more for comedic value than arousal, even.

I can't speak for everyone, but as far as I'm concerned, yes. Porn doesn't do anything for me, it just makes me laugh. Sometimes I enjoy reading sex if it's part of a story I'm into, but I don't go looking for it. Even then, I get bored after a few lines and just skip those parts most of the time.

Sexual desire is desiring sex in general, sexual attraction is the mental impulse to have sex with a specific person (which may or may not be followed by a desire to act on it IRL). So it depends on why the person is imagining the person doing those acts. Someone can imagine that and still not find the individual sexually alluring; they just thought about something sexual to get off.

So if an asexual person is watching porn and they find the person 'asthetically attractive' and they imagine that person is doing those sexual things to them, is that not sexual attraction?

Thanks for the replies and helping me understand this by the way.

If they imagine that person is doing sexual things to them as part of their enjoyment of it (not simply a thought experiment that ends up doing nothing for them), that is sexual attraction. If they play no part in the sexual activity they're imagining, that's greyer. Many sexual people fantasize about things that don't include them. Many sexual people watch porn that they'd have no interest in taking part in. Then again, some asexual people do the same. For sexual people, the arousal they get from it is part of their general desire for sex. For asexual people, the arousal they get from it is very separate from that.

Can I ask you a question?

Lets say you dream/fantasize about fighting a gigantic fire-breathing man-eating dragon.

angrywhitedragon-322640.jpeg

Does this mean that you want to fight something like that in real life?

I don't think it does, and believe that sexual attraction in fantasy is like courage in fantasy-it is nothing but pure fiction. I feel that unless you feel sexual attraction to a real person in real life then it is not real sexual attraction.

My take on porn is this- I watch porns but somehow I don't connect to any of the persons involved. It's kind of an alien feeling, because it's like watching them in third person/disconnected by the screen and everything.

I get aroused by the porn, but at the same time also thinking, 'Why would they like it so much? I just can't understand what triggers them to behave that way and feel that way. Sexual humans(?) are indeed interesting.'

As if I'm an entirely different species watching humans having sex. Heh... 8)

Your Question is actually two different questions and both questions are “Loaded Questions” in and of themselves.

In regards to your first question, are sexuals and asexuals looking at porn in different ways? Yes, but that's not

because people are sexual or non-sexual, it's because humans are dynamic creature, everyone experiences the world and

everything in it differently. Asexuals may look at some things more than or less than sexuals but some asexuals may enjoy

somethings more than or less than other asexuals.

Second, sexual desires are simply urges sexuals get like anything else like that feeling you get when you need

to use the bathroom.

i think i see porn differently in that i dont care much at all about the romance or story aspect, ive used porn in the past to get off and thats it.

in fact, if the porn is about characters that i actually like/relate too, im much more likely to find it a complete turn off. this is probably why i never got way into fanfiction, as most of it is about shipping, sexual or not.

i remember trying to read a fanfiction of a series that i specifically picked up because i didnt watch it. i start reading it, then skimming it, then getting to the end and getting mad because no sex happened and it had wasted my time.

if im reading something for the porn thats all i wanna see. if im reading something for the story, romance and sex are tolerated only. i suffered through many a teen romance novel just for the vampires.

Personally, I prefer reading erotica over watching porn, but in either case, it turns me on when I think about it abstractly, but the instant I actually imagine it actually happening to me, or involving anyone I know, I am immediately turned off, and usually a bit grossed out by the fact that I was turned on just before. This also extends to fictional characters that I develop any attachment to. Which is why the erotica I read tends to be very short and to the point, and I tend to feel really uncomfortable with sex scenes in books/movies, even when I enjoy the rest of the plot. Romance I'm okay with, so long as it's a minor subplot and not the main point of the story, but sex or even kissing, I would rather the book/movie fade to black as fast as possible. I'm fine with knowing the characters have sex, and that knowledge often does help me get a feel for character development. But I have no desire to imagine or be told any details. Like flesh-pocket, I never really got into fanfiction largely because so much of it is shippy and sexual in nature. I find the sexual ones highly uncomfortable, and the purely romantic ones kind of uninteresting at best.

Personally, I don't really watch porn, and explicit sexual imagery tends to gross me out.

I'd imagine that it depends on the person. Sexual and asexual people can like (or dislike) porn.

Me and my asexual best friend like to watch porn just to make fun of it, we often discuss about the characters and storyline (or lack of one).

I prefer watching hentai over porn with real people though.

I do like to watch porn, but i don't have to see the seksual interaction. I have a fetish and this is for me the only reason to watch. So yes, i look at porn in a different way. I akip the parts with tha action and only watch the parts i like.

Aren't you making an assumption that all people who are not asexual view porn the same way with your question? As with most things I would assume it's different for each individual, asexual or not.

Sexuals and asexuals probably view porn differently since even men and women have been found to get different responses when watching porn. Some need to be attracted to their partner, some don't. Some get aroused just at the idea of sex, others need to imagine themselves in the actual act, etc.

For me and my sexual bf, he doesn't like porn but I find it interesting to watch. I'm trying to improve my writing though so I would watch it for research on how to write erotica. Same goes for hentai since I find hentai much more entertaining with how insane it is.

I suppose it might help with the basics, but I wouldn't expect porn to resemble real scenarios.

Not my intent really. My main goal in watching porn for research is to see what people are attracted to. What sounds, sights, words, etc. I'm terrible at knowing what turns people on, where to touch to get a response, etc. I know porn and hentai don't resemble real life sex scenarios, but they're exaggerated like fiction.

Like 50 Shade of Grey is one of the word's best selling eroticas at the moment with very little good BDSM scenes and not much that translates to real life well. I'm just interested in what turns people on, not necessarily realism.

Hmm. It depends. I personally view porn similarly to a sexual person [guessing on this]. This is possibly mainly cause I'm rather indifferent towards sex. I have never had sex so I can't say if I like it. Apparently it's great, which makes me curious, but at the same time I'm not crazy about it.

When I saw porn, I just thought it was a sexual only genre. I tend to detach myself when watching or viewing sexual content. I mostly see it as a form of entertainment whether I'm interested in looking at it or not. It also makes me curious how sex works and why it satisfies them at times in practice even though I can never feel comfortable with doing it.

i rarely if ever watch porn. i never got into it. just seems weird and unrealistic to me. everyone keeps saying that erika lust makes some good pornons but i don't see myself thoroughly enjoying. maybe i just prefer certain types like 18+ games, eroctia, and porn pics.
