binary suns
I think that would be the kind of philosopy I seek - not keeping things I don't use, rather than finding the minimum it takes to operate. for me, it isn't about making sacrifices, but rather about not having "too much" and right now, I definitely have "too much" and need to get rid of things. I do kind of have a hoarder-mentality, and I dislike it, it makes me anxious. I want to be able to look at the things and say to myself "I don't need these things" and so get rid of them. that is the kind of minimalism I work towards. I do like the idea of being able to put all my possessions inside my car and move super easy-like. I think that would be the goal for me of where I want to be with my possessions. gekkosan
I do like the idea of being able to put all my possessions inside my car and move super easy-like. This was my motivation too. Except that when I moved countries I put all of my possessions on a plane and ditched the car. At first I felt sort of naked, but now I'm so used to it, I don't miss anything. Living lightly gives you a special kind of freedom that I grow to love more and more.
Anthracite_Impreza
I'm definitely not a minimalist but I do love the feeling of streamlining what I've got. I've just had a big clearout, I usually have them every few months (though I am running out of stuff I'm ok letting go of), and the feeling of being slightly lighter and organised in marvellous ... but then I end up getting more stuff so it's cyclical :P
Guest
Yes. I'd say more but I'm a minimalist.
