A boy asked me out!

So, I tried this thing where I was honest about my asexuality on Match.com.

Guy #1 said he basically couldn't be with someone who wasn't attracted to him in some way and couldn't express emotions (or something along those lines).

Guy #2 basically said I should get myself fixed (not in those exact words, but I'm pretty sure that's what he meant)

Guy #3 said I hadn't found the right person. Then proceeded to tell me that didn't mean he was the right person for me. So I called him out for being closed-minded and he got all butt-hurt. And this was after he kept trying to message me constantly and say he would leave me alone but didn't.

Guy #4 JUST called me and asked me out! When I told him I was asexual and explained it as best I could, he said he wasn't sure if he could empathize with someone asexual because he had never been in that situation. To which I replied I wasn't sure exactly how to connect with sexual people. And he called me today and he wants to go out with me!

I doubt it'll go beyond a first date, but I'm actually pretty excited. Someone is actually willing to look past the asexuality thing and get to know me as a person without the need to get in my pants.

This will be the first time going out with a sexual who knows I'm asexual. Before, the sexuals didn't know about my asexuality. And I "met" one asexual, but it wasn't really a date.

I don't know if this is the right board to post this on, but I'm SO excited and I had to share it with people who would understand.

I just feel kinda bad because I'm literally about to go to bed because I have to be up at 5am and I answered the phone in a cranky mood because I thought it was a telemarketer. But a boy wants to go out with me! :D

Yay! Congrats! That's actually pretty impressive, getting such a positive response from the 4th guy. (I've never tried dating sites but I always hear it's really hard for aces...)

I dont know what to say to that. You're a female... and as a man I can assure you that men will go out with a hole in the wall if the need be.

This is not undermining your relationship or putting doubts in your head.

But if I hadnt heard of asexuality, I wouldve accepted your deal like every other woman who wont sleep around... probably think that shes uptight or has hangups or is one of those who will remain virgin till marriage. So I wouldve taken it as a challenge or just to try it out.

You getting excited about him looking 'beyond' your asexuality isnt really a big deal to be excited about. He wouldve probably even looked beyond someone being not of the same species.
