Valentine's day when you're single - suggestions?

Usually I end up seeing my grandma for part of the day. Her husband passed away a few years ago, so we're both single and appreciate each others company on a day like Valentine's Day.

The past few years I've also started an unofficial tradition of having an anti-Valentine's party to celebrate friendship with whatever single friends are in the area. The cast of people I spend the day with has fluctuated as people moved away to college or got significant others, but spending time with friends is always nice.

So yeah, basically I celebrate Valentine's Day in the most platonic way possible. Just because I don't have romantic love doesn't mean I can't spend the day loving people in a familial or friendly way.

I normally buy all the chocolates from the supermarkets and such while they're discounted....indulge myself

When does the sale out start? Valentine's day afternoon or the day after? - I'm still having fond memories of the gingerbread binge due to after Xmas sale out

I will be watching a heart-warming romantic film about a misunderstood and under appreciated artist with several of my friends. We're all fans of the genre as a whole and decided to do a currently single social event. Two of my fellow movie-goers are in relationships right now but have kind and understanding enough partners to give the group of us some time to share together.

I'll probably spend it doing work, or sleeping. I have schoolwork to worry about, and as an aromantic, I do NOT have time for romance that involves me.

The last couple of years, my family has had a free weekend on Valentine's so they come visit me. Spending the holiday with loved ones, boo-yah.

I'll do what I do every other day, either watch anime or play video games :P

I will be spending the day with the love of my life. Her name is Tai and when I tell her that I love her she wags her tail and licks my face. We will probably go for a hike in the woods, then snuggle and read a good book. I guess she'll probably just snuggle and sleep, since she can't read, but it hasn't seemed to bother her in the past.

I usually make cards for people. I like Valentine's Day in general, but seeing all the advertisements of couples in love reminds me of how single I am lol

But I still really like it.

I'm not saying this because I'm single or whatever but I honestly hate Valentine's Day. I think it's completely tacky and defeats the purpose of true romance in my opinion. I will carry out my day as normal and eat chocolate if anyone's giving it out.

We've always celebrated Valentine's Day as a celebration of all types of love (including platonic) in my family, so I will spend some time talking to my sister who's away at uni, calling my parents, baking for my close friends and of course eating chocolate. I've been single almost every V-Day of my life and I've never had a bad time. Much love to all!

A box of chocolates, a nice drink, under a warm blanket on the sofa, watching a good movie that has nothing to do with Valentines day (preferably a horror movie or something like that).

Usually I ignore Valentine's Day, but three of my best friends are single at the moment (and in close-ish geographic proximity), so we're gonna have brunch together, in their case to either mourn or be indifferent to the fact that they're single, in my case to let out a long sigh of contentment. There'll be ice cream and I'm thinking of giving them asexual or aromantic Valentine's Day cards ;)

For my Valentine's Day I was thinking of taking myself out to eat and then a movie, and afterwards just settling down with some video games and chocolate ^_^

This year I managed to hook myself up with three platonic Valentines which is always fun! Plus I always look forward for the day after Valentine's for the discounted chocolates.

I just had a sad thought. Usually Valentine's day and the day after I eat chocolate by myself, but this year I've given up sweets and desserts for lent, so I'll have to celebrate without the chocolate. :(
