What do you think of nudity?

Don't mind nudity at all. It's natural. What makes me uncomfortable is how fast people sexualize nudity. THAT'S what makes it awkward, not nudity in itself. I've never been squeamish when it comes to these things. My parents sleep nude so I have seen them both naked a couple of times, for instance in the morning when one of them is going to the bathroom from their room. Some people would be freaked out by that, but I don't mind it. There's nothing sexual about it, nudity is the most natural condition for a human being. Seeing my parents naked in a casual way made me look at nudity in a more healthy, relaxed way, I think.

Clothes ARE a defense layer somehow in the oversexed world. My not shared home is out of others' sight and I am nude. To let a straight male friend in I'd grab some undies. To be social with the maybe sexualy interested I'd add shirt & shorts. If I was to be presented to more demanding folks, I'd appreciate hints about their cultural perception of "nudity". - Shall I wear a cap because #'s mother from Israel is visiting too? - What? Your mother is offended by bare knees? - I'll sigh and dress.

Arggh! - time to re-think: A recent glimpse into a mirror revealed: My shape might benefit from covering them love handles with a jacket or such. But I fear I am too polite to scare people with my partial nudity.

I don't really like skin like that. I think that nudity looks kind of weird and very unappealing. I like the way clothes compliment a person's appearance and personally, I think a person looks way better with clothes.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?
I'd probably scream at them to put some clothes on as I turn my head the other way and try to keep that image out of my head.
If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?
Hell no, absolutely not. I'm not too comfortable with my body like that anyways, but I just love clothes too much. Besides, they keep me warm.

What do you think about nudity in general?

It depends on the context. If it's in reality or on TV and it's for just sex scenes and fanservice then no thanks. If it's on TV and it's just for symbolism, I'm neutral as long as genitals aren't being shown.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

Walk the other way and avoid them.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

Nope. Nuh-uh. Not for me-gotta have my clothes. I can't even handle wearing strapless shirts without being bothered by any draft that hits my shoulders.

It's quite interesting. My responses to the following questions have evolved over time.

What do you think about nudity in general?

If you have asked me 12 years ago I would have been quite averse to the idea. However mid 2004 I began work on a mine-site in the proverbial middle of nowhere. We only had communal showers (gender divided I might add). At first you are very, very self-conscious. But after a year of washing day-in, day-out with all the people you work with, I found myself utterly apathetic to the concept of nudity. I literally do not care about clothing or the lack thereof in this capacity. Exposure therapy does indeed work.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

I refer you to my previous paragraph. I really could not care less if a man or woman were walking down the street naked. I find the human form in and of itself to be beautiful. It is likely I would stop for a moment to admire the motion of walking (I sincerely advise you try this for yourself. Watching the gait of someone can provide real insight into that person)

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

To achieve this goal I would have to emigrate to another country. Australia is not called the sunburnt country for nothing. I am a pale skinned redhead. More than fifteen minutes in the sun without multiple layers of clothing and a judicious slathering of sunscreen leaves me a charming shade of scarlet.

...

...

...

Followed by two weeks shedding my skin much as a snake does.

But if it were possible I don't know if I would follow through. As much as I do admire the human form, I enjoy snappy clothes and pride in presentation more. A little glimmer of vanity methinks.

I sometimes think that if more people were naked, I'd have more different comparisons. Since I basically only have TV or skinny fit girls to compare with, I kind of hate my body (mostly upper body) because of how imperfect it already is and I'm not even 25 yet... Just reading this thread is almost a trigger for my sadness unfortunately... :/ No one wants to see or accept the idea of an already-imperfect young body...

So yeah, I'd rather everyone cover up around me...

There isn't any such thing as objective perfection. People worth your time will know that

To the right person(s), it won't matter to them anyway. You'll likely still be perfect in their eyes ;)

I dunno. In today's society, I think nudity is in someway related to sex, so as a sex-averse person I just generally feel uncomfortable looking at other people naked.

Also, I feel nudity is something really private to a person (obviously some people may not think that way) and looking at naked people feels like an invasion of their privacy. As a very very private and secretive person, the invasion of privacy makes me angry and uncomfortable. I'm fine with my own body, at least. And even though I know some nudity may be consensual but it still doesn't sit right with me.

What do you think about nudity in general?

I'm indifferent, I don't get uncomfortable with it. But then it depends on the context it is used. If it was used in art and/or in a non-sexual manner, then I'd not be uncomfortable, I won't be repulsed by it. If it was in a sexual manner, then I'd probably react a little repulsed and uncomfortable, but then I haven't tested that myself and don't intend to. I don't feel anything when I see nudity, nor do I feel attraction to the person or anything, I just see nudity.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

Put some clothes on! :P

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

Never, it just strange, and uncomfortable, and weird. Besides, it would be cold or hot, people would stare at me, and I'd get dysphoric. I prefer people wearing clothes, as well as me, it looks more aesthetically pleasing, and better.

- Indifferent. Honestly it would not bother me at all if it were legal for people to walk around naked. I'm just like "meh, naked people".

- See above. Meh.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

- No. I like clothes.

I’m not indifferent to sex, I mean that’s just no, but I’m pretty relaxed about nudity. I’m happy to wear minimal clothing in private or settings that call for it.

In public, you dress appropriately to context and climate. Someone “just walking around naked” is a bit strange. I’d worry more for their state of mind than taking offence at their nudity.

I don't want to see genitals, otherwise I'm fine. It's not the fact genitals are considered sexual organs it's the fact that they are the garbage chute of the body.. This is another reason I'm sex repulsed, why in the hell do people want to stick their "garbage chutes" inside other people's/have "garbage chutes" inside their "garbage chutes"? I guess they are interested in training for a job at Waste Management, Inc?

I'd happily visit Florence and 'view' Michelangelo's [naked] David. How some here [^^^^^^^] can even faintly conjoin nudity, nakedness, pornography and erotica disappoints me.

IMO there's far more to the human form than what's between our legs.

What do you think about nudity in general? It's a lack of wearing clothes. I don't care about it one way or another. In art, it often serves the art, and I'm fine with that. I was apparently significantly less bothered (which is to say, not at all) than most people I know while taking figure drawing classes. I don't really get why it's a problem; it's just people with nothing covering them. No big deal. This is assuming it's not of a sexual nature, of course. If it is, my reaction then goes more towards "ugh, really? How dull".

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked? For much of the year, I would assume they're a little bit crazy, since that would have to be quite cold.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you? No. Clothing is warm and protective, and those things are useful. This is the same reason I always wear long pants, usually jeans; I don't like getting my skin scratched. It's not comfortable.

I agree. What is up with human anatomy anyway? Why the same body parts which handle waste in the waste disposal area? It just causes people to obsess over the grossest parts of the human body. Seriously, wttf.

What do you think about nudity in general?

The body is merely a vehicle for the mind, as such I don't really see it as being anything to be proud of or disgusted by. However, I object to male nudity because...di**s are freakin' ugly (this from a guy who owns one)!

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

If they're female: I wouldn't really care.

If they're male: PUT SOME DAMN PANTS ON, NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THAT!

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

Nope, I prefer to keep at least my underpants on at all times (well, except for when I'm bathing!)

  • 4 weeks later...

What do you think about nudity in general?

My mind tells me that nudity is something quite natural, nothing to be upset about... etc etc

But I rarely think about it, because I just can't stand it. Be it male or female, even partially nude within the limits western society considers appropriate (e.g. bathing suit, male without shirt...)

I strictly avoid to be ever confronted with it, even my own. I have to, as it makes me feel sick.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

I would have to avert my eyes and flee.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

Certainly not. I absolutely prefer being dressed. Completely. At all times and everywhere.

I find it gross. I know it's natural but i just find it terrifying in general.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

Go to some secluded place and cry (from a panic attack). Even scantily clad people

make me break down in tears.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

Heck no. I wouldn't even leave my house if this was the case.

Btw is there something wrong with me if i'm this afraid? I began feeling like this after a bunch of people tried to

"correct" my asexuality with "weird stuff"

What do you think about nudity in general?

Nudity makes me indifferent, awkward, or repulsed depending on what's presented. I have learned to appreciate the beauty in some figures as an artist and art of nudes can be serene or tolerable. In general though, especially with real people, I feel indifferent to repulsed about it. I think humans are beautiful and I draw them, I just think people look better with clothes. When in comes to genitalia I flat out do not like it, even on the most beautiful figure. I think it's ugly, weird, and gross. To me genitalia on the body is like a dill pickle on a wedding cake, why would anyone ruin a perfectly good cake!?

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

Either stare in disbelief and try to understand "why" or close my eyes, plant my face into my hands, groan, and wonder why I bother to walk outside the door.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

No. I wouldn't feel comfortable and who wants onlookers especially as a woman? Then there's issues of protection and cleanliness. Plus clothes can be expressive, fun, and can put you in a good mood. I really think there's good reasons why we wear clothes.

*Sigh* This has boggled my mind since I learned about sex. It makes no rational sense whatsoever and what's crazier, to me, is that it doesn't seem to bother others. Like, "Don't you people realize what those are used for?!?" (No offense to others haha, I just don't get it.)

1) I'm a health care worker. Nudity is a part of the job. It's so clinical when I'm in a work setting that it doesn't even register that a person is naked half the time. Outside of work...depends on my mood. It can range everywhere from making me uncomfortable, to almost an artistic like noticing of it (usually when it's like a photo of someone naked or something. Real life, it almost always makes me a little uncomfortable if I'm not at work.)

2) Who is the person? If it's someone I know well, mildly uncomfortable, but I don't really react to it. Someone I'm not really close with, than I'm looking away. A patient, I'm usually doing some aspect of my job.

3) Nope. I fight for the free the nips and all that, but I'm just comfortable being fully nude in public.

I am generally indifferent to nudity. It can be beautiful in art depending on how its portrayed. If I saw walking around naked I don't think I would think much of it so long as they didn't do something like bend over in front of me - I don't need to see that. I don't mind being naked when I'm alone. A while back I went to my doctor about a sprained ligament in my groin and when she pulled down my pants a little to examine me I became very tense. I knew it was necessary and just lay there hopefully appearing calm but inside I was anything but calm. This reaction was completely unexpected, but when I think about it nobody has seen me naked in decades.

I'd miss clothes... It's how I make a statement about who I am, even if the statement is a Fluttershy level "yay!"

Im not nudity repulsed or shocked by it in any way though, without the sexual side it's all a bit meh. I think I'm nudity indifferent if that's a term.

Being able to be naked at home seems pretty understandable to me.

What do you think about nudity in general?

I think it's completely natural. It's our bodies, our physical form. There's nothing wrong, weird, or gross about that. No other animal wears clothes but we don't think anything of that.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked?

I'd find that strange and funny. I wish I had that kind of confidence.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you?

No, I personally hate being naked and would be concerned about hygiene. (I'm not sitting my bare bottom where someone else's genitals have been.)

What do you think about nudity in general? Eh, nudity isn't something I'm too comfortable with. Then again I've always been weird about it, ever since I was a kid. I guess it makes me uncomfortable? It took me a long time to even be able to look at my naked body in the mirror. Side effect of puberty I guess.

How would you react to someone who was just walking about naked? I'd probably look away and be like "what...why..." I mean it's kinda strange to see a random nude person walkin' around. I dunno, I'd probably be severely uncomfortable and not look in their direction, especially if they were male bodied because I'm not used to seeing it naked.

If you could get away with not wearing clothes, would you? No. I like my clothes.
