sex dreams, do they hold any meaning?

Dreams are very tricky things to dissect since they are jumbled ideas being represented in a realm that has no rules and no boundaries. But there is some truth, however minute, to them.

I had one (well i think it was one, im still not sure what to make of it) in which I was involved with several people. Yet despite this, my thoughts during it was "this is all there is to it?". There wasnt any overwhelming desire, in fact no desire at all. It all seemed mechanical at best and even then there was no mechanical residue if you get what I mean.

Anyone got ideas theyd like to share?

Yes, sex dreams do hold meanings, though they may not be obvious ones. In fact, sex dreams can have nothing to do with being sexually attracted to someone else.

Sex dreams can represent jealousy or envy. For example, dreaming that you slept with a friend or colleage (basically someone you'd never imagine sleeping with) is your subconscious' way of telling you that that person has a quality that you admire or envy. Notice that this interpretation does not mean you are sexually attracted to them. It is just your mind's way of saying "Hey, I like this aspect of this person."

If you personally know any of the people in that dream, that could possibly be why.

Depending on how you feel during the sex dream can also come into play. Another example: I had a dream that I slept with a friend. However, it was forced on me. I did not want it, I was afraid and uncomfortable the entire time. I wanted it to stop, but I could not get it to stop. On a side note I woke up sweating. Now I'll explain the dream without even mentioning weird forced sex. My friend has forced something on me that I did not want. I wanted what she was doing to me to stop, but I could not say it. This same friend never shuts up about her various super cute boy crushes she has to me. I don't like it when she talks about it, I want her to stop. But I do not have the heart to tell her to stop.

Again, zero sexual attraction in this dream. I am not sexually attracted to her at all. This was my mind's way of saying that some of the things my friend does is overwhelming and, while I want her to stop, I am afraid to tell her to stop.

Dreams are weird and tricky, true, but not impossible to interpret. And even then, hell, they're just dreams. They normally just tell you things you already know, and don't (or shouldn't) have much impact on your life.

As much as I enjoy dream interpretation I rarely take dreams at 'face value'. They're tricky and can mean something that seems completely unrelated.

The important thing to remember is that having a dream, in no way shape or form, invalidates your orientation.

I didnt know any of the people involved in the dream. Which makes it a little harder to dissect. All the same its not something that would interfere with my life but it does make me curious.

Had another would be sex dream again. I say would be because I was not in it, it was more like watching a movie. But just the same as the previous one, the concept of it seemed dull and uninteresting.

I would say no. The mind is a wonderful and strange thing though. It seems normal to me that any kind of sexual have a sex dream or not either.

I find the "art" of dream interpretation rather sketchy, but then I don't think dreams of any type hold much meaning. It just seems to be your mind's way of processing all the crap you've done that day, nothing more. I have had sex dreams before, but they were usually more along the lines of past experiences whether I enjoyed them or not. I've also had dreams in which I've been very enthusiastic about something which I care very little for in real life, and vice versa. I also don't remember mine very often either.
