Birgitta
I have been told that men can suffer from pain and even some diseases if they don't release their sperm often. I know this can be done voluntarily, and it can also happen in a natural way if they contain it too much or due to some situations that arouse them (certain views, dreams...) I have been thinking: what happens when a man is asexual or does not enjoy to get stimulated? Maybe the biological necessity forces him to do something that he does not like very much, because otherwise he may have leaks. Are there any alternatives to this, in order to prevent illnesses and incidents, but avoiding the sexual action?
ThaHoward
Men can ejaculate in sleep if they haven't.. uhm.. emptied themselves. Hence "wet dream". Also it is many other functions in the body, so that isn't a problem :)

I've never experienced it. About 25 years ago, a persistent media scare story held that men who had little or no sex were more prone to prostate cancer, but IRL it didn't wash, because non-promiscuous men would be dropping dead all over the place. Autumn Season
Also, not sure how effective it is, but I heard that dead sperm gets (maybe just partially) recycled, if it didn't get released.

Sperm is mostly produced there and then, and isn't stored anywhere.

(And I would hate it if people really had to suffer from them.)
Anime Pancake
This is a great topic! For me, if I don't do that often (not sure how to describe it appropriately here), it has a number of effects on me. Without doing that, I usually get very moody, it can be physically uncomfortable and it is generally not pleasantBut I think it's different for everyone, because some guys seem to be okay without doing it?? As an asexual, I really dislike having to manually do that. I would prefer never to do it ever. I do think about sexual things while doing it, because that makes it a lot easier. I find it a little disappointing that I have to manually do that, because I pretty much have to think about sexual things on a somewhat regular basis.I would prefer not to think about sexual things ever, but because I have to do that with my body a few times a week, it is impossible not to think about sexual things. Thankfully when I do that, I usually have increased energy and it puts me in a great mood afterward.

Are there any alternatives to this, in order to prevent illnesses and incidents, but avoiding the sexual action? There is some controversy over the health benefits of it. Some doctors believe if the body truly needs to "release", then they will have nocturnal emissions. Some people believe NOT masturbating actually increases physical health (semen retention is a thing in some circles). The studies I have read are inconclusive, as they take a sample group of say 50-100 men who are 55+, ask them how often they masturbated throughout their lives and then what diseases they have, then counted no other variables as to why some men were less healthy (smoking, drinking, etc habits, family health risks). However, not fulfilling a libido can cause stress and have mood effects, if you have one. There is no controversy to that. IMO - If you need to, then masturbate. If you don't, then don't. Blue Phoenix Ace
In my experience, if I take a "masturcation" for a few weeks, then it'll come out in a wet dream. And yes, sperm is stored in the epididymis, a small sac that's part of the testicle.
Philip027
I don't exactly keep up to date on how/if everything is working down there, but I can say that personally, I have been periodically plagued by... well, dreams that rouse a certain real-life reaction... every so often. From what I have heard, the body gets rid of the stuff one way or another. Not everyone necessarily needs those sorts of dreams (or masturbation/sex) to do it, either. daveb
I've never had a problem with it.
Skycaptain
ThaHoward answers the question correctly. If a male hasn't ejaculated for a while then a wet dream, or in medical circles, a nocturnal emission can occur. This is basically the body jettisoning old sperm and proteins. There is a school of thought that says infrequent ejaculation increases the risk of prostate cancer, but note, increases the risk doesn't mean cause necessarily. Like all other cancers some people are more at risk than others or less at risk no matter what they do.
