012
It's really up to what you're comfortable with but in reality you don't have to tell them anything about your personal life. In fact if they pried a lot AND if it made you uncomfortable it could be categorized as a form of harassment. If anyone ever asks, you could just say "I'm not interested in dating", smile and walk away. Or "I prefer being single", anything like that. However if you feel good about allowing them to know one thing you could do is try wearing a black ace ring on your right middle finger. When someone asks what it means you could tell them to look it up and learn something new ;) Good luck.
Kalyke
Asking whether you are married or have children is the same as asking if you have sex. That is against the law. I just avoid such questions, and generally avoid anyone who asks such personal questions. I was hired to do a job, not talk. If I am talking, I am stealing money from the company, and I am a thief. My .5 hour lunch is usually filled with eating and maybe playing a quick game on my ipad. How do I avoid personal questions? Stay busy.

I have been thinking about getting a necklace or something, but don't really want to feel like explaining something. One asked me about sex in high school and when I told him I didn't have a boyfriend he told me "oh so you were a rabid hyena then? (basically calling me a slut)". Too bad that company didn't take hr complaints seriously. I like your philosophy on work, but sadly people still come up and talk to me. When I act stone cold, they think it's funny to try and get under my skin.
Wallflowerbaby13
The place I work, I can't be out even as lesbian (although that's not how I identify right now) let alone asexual (or heaven forbid agender!). I kinda just say I've got other priorities when people ask about my romantic life and try to change the subject. They can assume what they want but since the LGBT policy at my workplace is essentially Don't Ask, Don't Tell, I try not to talk about stuff that relates to that part of my personal life. It kind of sucks sometimes but I've gotten used to it. I am sorry to hear you work in such an environment! It makes me sad you can't be as open or not as you choose but feel that you must stay quiet. That can not in any way be legal though. May I ask what kind of job prevents you from being open or not as per your choice? I hope things may change for the better for you and that work place. I am sure you are not the only one feeling restrained and/or discriminated against. Sending well wishes your way!
