The ace in space

I love hearing about what everyone one loves, so I decided to open a thread where we can share and talk about our favorite games! I'll start, I'd have to say my personal favorite is The World End With You. There's an almost endless list of things I love about it!

I love the ones from Legend of Zelda. This game series is truly a masterpiece. I've only played Ocarina of Time and am currently playing Majora's Mask, but I bet all the other games are amazing as well (if not better!)

I'd say my favorite game ever is Warcraft 3 (and expansion The Frozen Throne) but I'd have to give special mentions to others!

My younger days : Doom 2, Grand Prix 2, Diablo 2, Half-Life

Adventure games : Monkey Island 2, The Walking Dead

Free game : Path of Exile

That's a hard one. My favourite game of all time, thus far, is probably Baldur's Gate -- assuming I have to pick between it and Baldur's Gate II. I always play through from Baldur's Gate to Throne of Bhaal, so I tend to think of the whole trilogy as a unit.

I've still got a fondness for Commander Keen (all 1-6), Duke Nukem (1 and 2), Hocus Pocus, Wacky Wheels, and Crystal Caves. Those were the games I grew up on, and I probably could still play all through at least Keen in my sleep. Also, Lemmings. Just about every Lemmings game. I do still play those every now and then, though, so they're not quite in the same category.

Favourite RPGs: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II (+Throne of Bhaal), Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale II, Dragon Age: Origins, TES: Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic, Temple of Elemental Evil, Knights of the Old Republic II, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Neverwinter Nights, Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader, and Mass Effect. Honorable mention to the Fallout games, which I've never completed because I haven't succeeded in making a character I like sufficiently, but which I do certainly like as games.

Favourite FPSs: Unreal Tournament 2004, Half-life (as well as Blue Shift and Opposing Force, Half-life 2, and Tron 2.0.

Favourite RTSs: Medieval II: Total War, Populous: The Beginning, Total War: Rome 2, Civilisation III: Call to Power, and Empire: Total War.

Favourite puzzle/adventure games: Lemmings, Lemmings 2: The Tribes, Oh No! More Lemmings, Zork series (I-III, 0, Beyond Zork, Enchanter, Sorcerer, Spellbreaker, and Grand Inquisitor), Myst, Riven, Lemmings Revolution, and Lemmings 3d.

Miscellaneous favourites: GTR2, koules, rogue, angband, Nethack, and Fury3.

Champions of Norath I and Champions of Norath II, Those were my childhood!!

Those are my favourite console games! Those, and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance I and II. I've never even owned a console, though, so my experience with them has all been playing them at other people's houses.

I always have difficulty listing favorites, but I'll give it a try:

RPG: Baldur's Gate series, Dragon Age series, Planescape Torment, Fallout series, Final Fantasy VI, VII, and X; Chrono Trigger, Xenosaga series

Strategy: Starcraft (never played 2 other than the beta, but it would likely be on this list, too), Warcraft 3, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War

Adventure: The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango, Zork series

FPS: Half-life 2, Bioshock, F.E.A.R. series, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom series

MMO: Rift, Trove, WoW, Age of Conan

What a tough decision! I think I'm going with Psychonauts. It had almost everything that I love about 3D platformers.

Honorable mentions: Mother 3, Katamari Damacy, Ratchet and Clank, Shadow of the Colossus, Deus Ex, Half Life 2, and Runescape.

I have to say in my personal experience OoT and MM are the best ones. I'm a huge Zelda nerd and I've been playing Zelda for almost 16 years.

I'd probably say Ocarina of Time is my favorite game ever although I have to admit lately I've really been enjoying Xenoblade Chronicles. The music, the scenery, the gamplay is all very nice. The story is absolutely engaging to the point I didn't want to stop playing it.

The interesting thing to me about this thread is how it shows about what time people got into gaming. Most people's favorites for gaming tend to fall pretty close to whatever was around when they first started playing games.

The Great WTF

I can't choose just one!

Final Fantasy VII (Final Fantasy main line in general, but VII was my first so it will forever be my favorite), Doom 3, Xenogears, Silent Hill, Kingdom Hearts and it's many, many sequels/side stories, the classic Resident Evil games, Pokemon, the Zelda franchise, the Bioshock series, Mass Effect, the Jak and Daxter series, Dead Space, and honorable mention for the original Super Nintendo Power Rangers game because I still have nightmare about trying to beat that godsdamned eyeball monster.

*totally deviates from that norm, as usual* :P

Started out with the old SNES, went through a really long PSX/PS2 phase, but my true favorites come from the DS/3DS time. :)

On to the favorites:

- Etrian Odyssey series. Hands down the best thing that ever happened to me gaming-wise.

- Ace Attorney series. This is going to be a long-term love. <3 Anyone else who played the AAI2 fan translation? Please tell me I'm not the only one ><

- Fantasy Life

- Pokémon BW, but I'm slowly losing interest in the series as a whole...

I wasn't allowed to play video or computer games as a child (my parents thought they'd rot my brain or whatever) so I haven't played more than a handful of games. Of those, basically the only thing I play regularly is League of Legends.

If I had to pick one, EarthBound. A quirky little SNES RPG.

If I could pick ten, in addition to EarthBound, there's Super Mario Bros 3 (and Mario platformers in general), Bayonetta 2 (as well as the first game), Fallout: New Vegas (the the Fallout series in general), Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Legend of Mana, Suikoden II (and Suikoden V), Baldur's Gate II (and all Infinity Engine games), Ys: The Oath in Felghana (and the Ys series in general), and Pokemon HeartGold (and the Pokemon series in general).

Also, the Legend of Zelda series.

...so I have too many.

Final Fantasy IV which was released in the US as Final Fantasy II. Did you know there are two different cart versions of this game? The original US release cart was the same as the Japanese but was found to be too hard of an RPG for American gamers so they released a 1.2 "Easy Type" version. The hard version is so much more satisfying. You can tell which version you're playing by the name of the white magic final spell. Hard type its called "Holy" and Easy Type it's called "White".
