Lord of the nerds

I don't just because I am not out yet, once I am though (probably very soon) I will keep it open. Currently, though AVEN is one of my "frequently visited"tiles on a new tab, so I always immediately look up some random, innocent thing when I open a new tab with the intention of having it handy (I binge research and that requires quite a few tabs)

I don't have a shared computer, but if I'm on here and lend my computer away, or want to show someone something on my phone, I make sure to close out of everything on here. My parents know what asexuality is (or at least my mom does from comments she's made), but I don't know if they would understand it enough. Or if they would truly accept me, or just say it's because I've never had sex before.

So to avoid questions, headache, and a debate I don't really want, I clickety click out of everything to do with this place before other people can see it.

I'm on my own when I'm browsing the web, at least most of the time. Still, I wouldn't close the tab. Being here is really nothing to be ashamed of.

Nope. I'm afraid they would look and see, "Why are you on this site?" And well... I really don't feel like explaining... and then I would have to come out and... it's just a mess and it saves so much time.

This sums up my stance as well. Having AVEN open would strike me as a relatively easy way to come out and much more natural than bringing it up myself. Though I have to andmit, I'm still in a state where I think it's completely unnecessary to come out - everyone who knows me can deduce my asexuality quite easily, I feel, if they decided to care. Coming out would seem to me an indication that I cared and sought support or the like, when in actuallity I am more than content with sexuality simply being a non-topic.

I don't leave my laptop open unattended, but I do browse AVEN when people are in the room. My mom asked me about it yesterday, and I was really nervous, but she seemed cool with it.

Why are you banning people on the internet? That's highly suspicious. :P

I have it open in public/school sometimes, but I have no idea if people care. I know that the friends I have around don't. I've never been on it at home (parents) and I have no clue what they would think.

I'm new here and just saw the poll and it made me think. I think I am open about this site, but I don't know how open I would be when I get a job. (so I voted sometimes).

I don't mind most of my family seeing.... in fact I don't think I would mind even my most conservative family member seeing me on this site, though the anonymity is nice. I think most of my friends know about my sexuality, partly because I kinda listed it as a reason when I broke up with my boyfriend. (He was amazing about the whole thing,) and I have let him and my family tell others that I am asexual. (I have no idea why, but my mom is really excited to tell other clergy that I am asexual, maybe because it has recently come up in discussions in the Methodist Church.... at least at the clergy level.) I like to think that I will stay open about both my sexuality and this site (though I may not tell them my username and stuff) in the future, but I don't know.

I voted yes to people care that I am on this site since my mom is the one who encouraged me to join after I expressed interest.... (I am also thinking about encouraging another family member to join)

The only people that know that I visit this site are the people I've met through it and on it. A few other aces from other parts of the internet know because I've told them.. But no one else. I always access the site when I'm alone (desktop) or on my phone. I always use incognito mode -even on my phone. I always close my window afterwards.

May seem paranoid or overly cautious but no.. I've had instances where people have used my phone and gone "what's this?". Nope. Not cool. I'd much prefer to sign in every time and be safe.

Yes and they love this blank page loading for hours

Jokes aside, it is inapplicable because they don't understand english well. Not that I do either...

I have it bookmarked on my bookmarks bar, I surf it when other people are next to me but I try not to draw too much attention to it. I just don't want to have a conversation about it ...

This poll is being locked and moved to the read-only Census Archive for 2015. As part of ongoing Census Forum organization, and in an attempt to keep the demographics of the polls current with the active user base at the time, each poll will last for one year. However, members are allowed and even encouraged to restart new polls similar to the archived ones if they like them.
