damage_case
Hi Ive heard and read that asexuals can be into masturbation and watching porn. Which somewhat goes against the asexual orientation... but I tend to agree that watching porn and masturbation happens inside the house... and when an asexual comes into reality, they just dont get attracted to real women/men. But can an asexual be a porn addict? I am an asexual and do not get sexually attracted to women. However, Im a huge porn addict... I cant go a day without porn/masturbation. Is it possible? Star Bit
Yah. And Asexual isn't literal, it just means no sexual attraction; that you don't have the impulse/urge/compulsion to have sex with anyone. That has nothing to do with liking pleasure, your body naturally going through a hormone fluctuation that causes arousal, or even what your body finds sexually arousing. When an asexual gets aroused by erotica it isn't because of sexual attraction (the opposite being for most sexuals), but because what their watching is suggesting pleasure and their body remembers that pleasure and responds to it/desires it. Much like salivating at the sight or smell of food; an uncontrollable bodily reaction. If they weren't doing something sexual/sexually suggestive then that arousal wouldn't start in the first place; where as with sexual attraction it starts off with just the person's presence being sexually arousing, which then triggers their desire to do them. Revilo
I respect your thought of sexual orientation and how masturbation can go against the Asexual orientation but another thing is that an Asexual or watches/masturbates to porn is aroused by what other they are aroused by but not specifically towards the person in the form of attraction. Such as they aroused to a kink (Hentai, BDSM) they enjoy or something that makes them feel good (Sensual attraction, moans, beautiful people), not really goes against the sexual attraction. And with the main question, yes they can. Most people experience self pleasure for various reasons but a lot of people keep repeating self pleasure in a form of masturbation because of those same reasons along with it mainly it makes them feel good or it's a way to relieve stress, health concerns, and sometimes all three of them! Again it doesn't go against them being Asexual as they don't have that sexual attraction to anyone, just that thing that makes them feel good or the kink they have arouses them to masturbate or even watch to self pleasure. I don't think I've ever looked at a person and thought "I want to have sex with them", but I do get aroused by sex scenes in films and stuff, even though I don't like it. Wow I never thought like that. But its hard to tell someone that Im an asexual... and when they dig deeper into it they see you masturbating everyday and addicted to porn. Its hard to debate with them. Its beyond pleasure... I dont know. I dont think my body craves pleasure 2 times a day (on weekends). Or maybe it does. Its weird. So according to you... by body is demanding pleasure and brain suggests porn (coz I cant imagine a scenario in my head with eyes closed of a woman with me). But when I go out... my brain/hormones/heart doesnt pay attention to any chick sexually... wow! Did I get that right?
Erasmvs
Asexuals can watch porn, but that doesn't mean they are sexually attracted to those persons, nor that it arouses them. I enjoy looking at sexual pictures because I'm lonely and it feels like I'm meeting hundreds of new people a day (I have like 10,000 pics, nojoke). I'm a teen, so I guess I enjoy exploring this a bit, and I like porn if it's creative, if its just sex then it's bo-ring. So yeah, asexuality doesn't necessarily mean being sex-repulsed or non-libidoist. I have a pretty high libido, but porn bores me usually and I don't get aroused. I get aroused randomly or if I think about someone I like (but I'm demi, so that's normal). So yes. Many of us can be.

No problem, it's a common misconception. @Damagecase Yah, pretty much. But there are many asexuals who masturbate so they'd have the same problem if the uninformed sexual public asked such things. Any other orientation and ppl would see that it's inapropreate to ask someone about their masturbatory habits, so you don't even have to actually answer them. But many sexual people; perhaps strongly men, do understand that sexual arousal is not sexual attraction, so i think your results with coming out to sexual people with that information would vary. Let's put it this way, someone with a foot fetish finds feet sexually arousing but they aren't sexually attracted to it/don't literally want to have sex with a foot. Not to mention the arousal for an asexual isn't even person based but action based, but basically that's how masturbation with erotica for an asexual has the same concept. Artistofnoname
I know recovering porn addicts from Celebrate Recovery and I'll tell you that nobody is exempt from any kind of addiction. Even an asexual can become addicted to these things for one reason or another.
