Kiss-My-Ace Posted July 30, 2015 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Hey, I kind of always knew that I didn't feel sexual attraction but I thought that was impossible so I passed it off as being a late bloomer. Now that I'm almost 17 I felt that was strange, and googled asexuality. And I'm SO GLAD YOU ALL EXIST! I've been lurking here for a while because I was too shy to post, but I finally made an account so hopefully I'll be able to make some friends :D I noticed that you guys talk about romantic orientation a lot too, and I'm having trouble figuring out mine, can any of you help? I get crushes on boys (I am a cis female) but it's kind of weird. I've never had any sexual desires for them, only romantic desires. So all this led me to believe that I was heteroromantic, but I dated for the first time this year and I had to break it off after a few weeks because of some weird stuff. I would always fantasize about kissing him and holding his hand and cuddling and such, but then when we were in an actual position to do so, I had no desire anymore. When he wasn't around I would want to cuddle and be physical, but as soon as he was with me those thoughts disappeared. He tried to kiss me once, and I just completely dodged it. It's like I'm heteroromantic when I'm alone, but as soon as I'm with a guy I like I become aromantic. Is that a thing? Does anyone else experience this? Anyway, I don't know any other asexuals, so I'm here to meet some friends who understand me! My friends and family don't know I'm an ace, and I don't really know if I should tell them or not. Many of my friends are part of the LGBT+ community so I know they would accept me, I just don't know if it's even necessary to come out if they know I have crushes on boys. I told one of my friends, but she said it's because I "haven't tried it". And my parents would probably think I just made it up to be special. Let me know if you have any feedback! This is definitely a great place...and I agree, so glad we all exist. : )) As for your romantic orientation question, I can relate, and I think that you might want to look into "lithromantic" (another word for it is "akoiromantic"). You might be hetero-lithromantic (or is it lith-heteroromantic?? Lol). What you described really sounds similar.
