Lord Jade Cross
Well this is by definition rather embarrasing a question for me to ask. There have been a few instances lately where I seem to unwantingly (is that even a word?) get an erection. I know that this can happen to men at irregular times but isnt it a bit odd? I mean its not like Im a 15 y/o going through the years of puberty and Im also not actively seeking sex or anything so it wouldnt be a reaction of being aroused/horny/etc. Theories? Mighty Number Nein
Tight underwear/pants can rub against your genitals and cause erections.
RedSpiderLily
Spontaneous erections simply aren't occurrences that are exclusive to puberty. Perhaps there's a sudden rush of activity going on inside your body that created the reaction.
oldme
Random erections are pretty normal. It can be caused by rubbing clothes etc. I also get them occasionally, but it's a bigger problem for me since it triggers my dysphoria.
Lord Jade Cross
True but I usually wear loose pants underwear like boxers. What sudden activity could cause them though?
Squirrel Combat
I hate random erections. They happen to me sometimes, too. And I wear boxer shorts.
vxOblivionxv
It can literally just happen out of nowhere. I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

Btw, for me it's the loose underwear that causes more random erections, but for everyone it's different I guess.

I have to agree with the annoyance part. I've hated the so called "morning wood" with a passion since puberty.
Dr. Smart
been wondering about that, it only happens to me while I'm at home relaxing... so its not usually a real problem, but it just seems so random sometimes...
Star Bit
Males of any age get random boners; it's totally normal. Sometimes it has a cause, sometimes it doesn't. And yes, unwantingly is a real word.
knout
They will happen... the least you think about it, the quicker they'll go

Adrenaline or any generic exciting thing can do it. Doesn't make it any less sucky, but there you go.
Blue Phoenix Ace
I saw some anime, can't even remember what it was called, where the character said "Morning wood? That's how I know I'm still alive!" (oddly it was a white character voiced by Samuel L Jackson) That still makes me chuckle to think about. But yeah, it's normal for most guys. The only way to get rid of it is to... get rid of it. HeartfulPeach
It has been said a lot but yeah, you can get random boners, out of nowhere. Think about other stuff and ignore them.

Better to get random unconscious erections than be unable to get one when you want to. :) As someone who used to get random erections for no apparent reason I discovered that regular masturbation fixed things well. Nothing worse than trying to fall asleep erect (especially since I sleep kinda on my stomach-side.) Masturbating before bed helps avoid the erection, and for guys at least the refractory/resolution drowsiness is a natural sleep aid. Masturbating upon rising gives a great reasontog et out of bed in the morning, and helps avoid awkward erections at inopportune moments.
Skycaptain
Spontaneous erections occur all the time. Most males have three to five per night whilst asleep. This can result in the " morning glory" when you wake with an erection, also the myth of the bladder erection. This is just a result of natural blood hormones. The same processes occur during the day, but our brains are more active carrying out daily functions. This is why you are less likely to get a spontaneous erection when busy than when at rest. Hidden Greg
It happens. Sometimes I see if I can muster the sheer force of will do actually do something with it, more often than not the subsequent train of thought effectively deflates its enthusiasm.
