is it okay not to want to have a relationship, ever?

I lived alone for years and loved it. It's great if you're an artist or creative person because you pretty much can do what you like, when you like. No one will interrupt you or judge you. If you need time on your own to recharge, you've got it. One challenge is not to isolate yourself too much.

I have reached 43 and never been in a proper relationship. Whilst I feel that there is something missing in my life, being brutally honest, I struggle to see how I could live with a partner. This is genuinely the hardest question that has ever been asked of Ace me. On the one hand there is the thought that I really want someone to share my life with, a flatmate who wants to see a show, go out for a meal etc. But on the otherhand, could I really put up with someone else criticising the way I live? Should I ever meet someone what would happen? Stay Ace, become demi or what. The potential future is so frightening. Maybe a fear of change clouds our judgement? Could we even cope with being in a relationship? Until we have tried who knows?

I don't feel like I'll ever want to live with someone.

I have friends and I see them, but I don't think I could share my life with anyone. I'm only 20 though, so I wondered if anyone here could tell me if it gets hard with time? I'm a solitary person, I like my independance. I don't think I would get lonely (I would have friends, see people at work, etc.) but perhaps I'm wrong?

Obviously, I don't have to decide anything right now, but having a perspective is always nice :)

No there is anything intrinsically wrong with that. Now there are going to be a lot of people probably most people you know won't be able to share that feeling or experience with you but that doesn't make it "Wrong" or "unhealthy".
