Questions about sex...

Recommended Posts

Okay I realise that some people are disgusted with the idea of sex (if so dont read on) Im not Im just not interested but I do have questions about the mechanics of sex and it is too dangerous to google (lol) so...

What average time for sex? Like I know Grease says 15mins but I never got jokes and stuff about it

And im sure others have questions. Im looking for answers that are serious and somewhat scientific. Also sorry if I offend anyone with the question

Honestly there is absolutely no 'average time'.

It all depends on the couple/pair and their individual needs, and what they are attempting to achieve at the time (ie are they "making love" which can be slooow, lasting hours, and be a deeply intimate, passionate, bonding experience, or just having a quickie which can be like 8 mins and the goal really is just to get it over quickly before work or whatever) .. The length of time it takes people to reach orgasm also varies greatly from person to person.. Some can orgasm in a few minutes, some in like 30 minutes, and some can have multiple orgasms so can keep going after the first one. Seriously there is no average time, and that's about all there is to it :) :cake:

If you're worried about offending repulsed people, you can put "[tmi]" at the start of your post header (it stands for "too much information"). That way repulsed people know not to read it. But your questions are tasteful and factual and probably won't offend too many people.

Most of sex consists of what people call "foreplay," which is quasi-sexual activities that lead up to or prepare the partners for sex. These vary greatly. I personally believe that, when two people have eventual sex on their minds, the entire six months (or whatever) they spend dating prior to their first sex act is part of foreplay. Most people, however, consider foreplay to begin with direct physical contact immediately before the sex act, such as kissing, petting, undressing and manual/oral stimulation.

How long a sex act itself lasts depends on the partners. Male-female penile-vaginal intercourse usually lasts only a few minutes. Oral stimulation, including among same-sex partners, can last considerably longer. Some partners engage in multiple sex acts during the same sexual session.

From personal experience I can tell you that, for me, time really flew when I was nude with my partner. We didn't continuously hump (obviously), but before I knew it five or seven hours had passed, mostly in conversation. And I found sex boring, so imagine what it's like for someone who doesn't!

And if you were going to ask next how often people have sex, I think statistics show most people have sex between two and four times a week.

Warning: possible TMI for repulsed or sensitive people.

Ahem. The bolded part of the above quote is certainly not true for everyone. Maybe if the man sticks it in and just tries to get it over asap without considering his female partners needs, or if she just wants him to get it over asap, but generally speaking a few minutes is waaay too fast for many people (not all, but many)

The amount of time it takes varies too extensively for anyone to be able to say that penis/vagina penetrative sex usually only lasts a few minutes. Honestly, I have been with a lot of men, and the penis/vagina part has never taken ''only a few minutes'' no matter how long I gave them oral prior to the sex. Many of the men I've been with WANT to draw it out as long as possible, and will consciously try not to orgasm so that it will last longer. This is actually what many women who enjoy penetration want, as for many women, orgasm through penetration takes longer than orgasm through penetration for a man (not true for all people though of course) ..many women love it when a man can draw out the penetration part, and can get frustrated if a man finishes too fast (not all women, but many). The men I have been with who don't consciously try to draw it out have taken anywhere from 8 to 40 minutes, and that's with or without oral previously (giving oral to a man prior to penetration has never made much difference in my experience, for a few men yes, most, doesn't seem to change much). .. I have also known many men to refuse oral, because it makes them orgasm too fast, whereas with penetrative sex they can control their orgasm better to draw it out. Also many woman I've been with orgasm faster through oral than they do through penetration.. I have known women to cum in about 5-10 minutes from oral (when done well) but more like 20-40 through penetration (if they are women who enjoy penetration, and some women never orgasm through penetration even if they enjoy it).. So yeah, there is no ''most people'' about any of this, as everyone has such Vastly different needs and experiences.
