Just wondering if anyone here is turning off their lights for Earth Hour 2015 ? its today March 28 at 8.30 PM, which is in 5 minutes as I write this, at least in my timezone. I am not really into this, but I live in the city so I can watch the lights go out.

Hi! I'm doing Earth Hour today too (it's not 8:30 pm yet in my timezone). Do you usually do Earth Hour? Any traditions with it?

For me, pretty every hour is an Earth Hour (I normally use only a table lamp and a small one on the cooker hood), so I didn't bother to celebrate it specifically :D

Earth Hour was last night, for me. I was on my own, and I celebrated it with three candles and my (unplugged) laptop (on AVEN, of course :) It felt incredibly dark, and slightly alien, but in a way the darkness seemed almost like a comforting cocoon. Maybe it's a good feeling to get used to - do we really need bright lights all the time, especially at night when the rhythm of our bodies is more attuned to darkness and slowing down.

I think it creates a good feeling of community and caring about the environment when a lot of people get behind something like Earth Hour, but I hate it when people are hypocritical about it. My daughter was at work last night, and apparently her workplace was advertising that it "supported Earth Hour", but was, to use her words, "lit up like a Christmas Tree" all evening. Why bother to make the claim, if you can't support it?

Aw dang, forgot about it. I'll be living in a major city this time next year, though, so I bet it'll be cool to see all the lights go out like you said. :)

This year my mom lit a fire in our fireplace and I spent the hour lying in front if it cocooned in a fuzzy blanket reading and just watching the flames and thinking about life. It was very relaxing and quiet with the darkness. :)

Sorry, I didn't turn off my lights. I don't think a noticeable number of people around where I live did. But I did get my latest monthly report from my electric company, showing I used less electricity than my neighbors. Each month they compare the nearest 100 similar homes, not sure how they define that or determine it. In any case, I was number 1. :)
