Flyaway4me
Hello, I just thought of these questions and thought they would be nice to discuss. Self explanatory. Em
Grace Barton
I have no idea what my 'greatest' accomplishment is. I suppose I could say getting my degree. It was difficult because I did Journalism, and I have no sense of curiosity or the pushiness to be a journalist. I actually failed one module in my third year because I was terrified of talking to people and therefore was unable to go out and interview people for a story I had to write, and ended up having to retake it. Somehow I passed, anyway. Goal for the future... hmm... Getting published is probably the main one. Getting to Grade 8 on the violin would be another.
Tanzanite
So far my "greatest" accomplishment was surviving high school 2 years ago. Now that it's close to being my last year in college, I feel like punching that obstacle in the face too.
Næt.
Got out of bed this morning. Gold star for me. My life is profoundly uninteresting. Goals for the future: Avoid grinding poverty, don't go to prison. If I can die having met those two conditions, I will chalk that one up as a win.
AlwaysADreamer
Greatest accomplishment: probably getting out of my comfort zone to try things that made me happy. Largest goal: to move away from the midwest, or to travel. I really want to join the peace corp, so that will temporarily do both things (if I get in).
the bumbling rotifer
Greatest accomplishment: leaving home and establishing my own life. Largest goal: to never stop changing and to never stop experiencing new things :).
SecretLibrary
Greatest accomplishment: either completing my first novel-length manuscript, or getting out of debt. (Both were challenging as hell, and the last one I'm only *just* accomplished - recently enough that I'm not 100% sure if it's going to 'take' yet.) Next big goal: Getting a novel to the point where I'm confident it's worth publishing. Also running a 10K (completed one last year, but mostly by walking with short jogging bursts; this year I'm in much better training), but if I only could take one, definitely the first. :) I like this thread. It's interesting to see everyone's responses.
Snao Cone
Greatest accomplishment: wandering foreign lands by myself Largest goal: fight off the beasts of depression and anxiety so accomplishments and goals can feel real and achievable
Schrecken
I'd say probably my professional life - getting into the scenic art industry when I lived in California and taking many of those skills and then starting and running my own business. I've been flying solo for about ten years now, and in a couple of months I will have finally paid off all my business dept and I'll be the clear for the first time. As for a goal, my goal is to continue to expand my business, and maybe get to the point where I will have my own shop and not have to work out of a basement.
Vanadis
Greatest Accomplishment: Getting all of my music onto my computer at one time. I've managed to kill three(!) CD drives attempting this in the past, though technically one of those times wasn't really my fault (and that technicality got the whole computer), so yes, this is definitely an accomplishment. Largest Goal For the Future: Getting an external harddrive to store all of this on. Maybe a non-broken MP3 player...
Guest Sheka4
Greatest accomplishment of today: I nearly made my best friend cry while giving her a brief summary on a fanfiction I wrote
Guest
uhmmm well i'm finally getting more involved in school, so i think that's a pretty big accomplishment. for the future, deciding what i'm going to major in when i get to college. i'm really conflicted with it right now, i might end up going in undecided. q wq
scarletlatitude
Greatest accomplishment: writing a novel series that people seem to actually enjoy, because I'd never really considered what I make to be for anyone but myself Largest goal: becoming financially stable, which may require me to go a completely different career route than I had originally planned
Dodecahedron314
Greatest accomplishment: getting into a really good university with a full ride. Biggest goal: two words--physics Nobel. Or two. After that, a nice house in the German countryside and a nice office at CERN.
Waist of Thyme
Biggest accomplishment: I guess graduating high school. I have some other things I've proud of, but I guess this would objectively be the most significant thing I've done. Future goals: I don't really have any, for the most part. I guess to continue doing what I've been doing? I'm pretty happy with where I'm at.
LaMaestra
Greatest Accomplishment: My survival after all this time. Future Goal: To emigrate. @ Naet: Agreed! If you complete your entire life staying out of prison/trouble with the law, then you can truly consider yourself a success, even if you never achieve success through fame, good business acumen or promotion in your career. Grumpy Alien
So far: Surviving Next up: Stability I'm mentally and physically ill but I dream big. I want kids and to move to London. I want to be happy. I don't need to be a famous actress like my childhood dream, but I do need to feel adequate and loved. I want a family to mold in a place that doesn't make me miserable. I put myself down a lot because I'm nowhere near capable of even living on my own or earning enough for more than food. But I really have done a tremendous job so far of not dying. I give kudos to that.
coyote55
I've won performance awards at work and stuff like that, but hearing "You're my best friend" from several people I've been close with is what I value the most. Future goals? As far as a career goes I'm pretty much done, but I'd love to work in a bike shop. Also plan to do more volunteer work, particularly with kids, and lots of travel. Rising Sun
My greatest accomplishment : I guess, considering my past, the fact that I survived that may qualify. My goal now : managing to move to another part of the world, in order to start a new life and to always be there for a very special person.
