Asexual non profit organizations

I know it has been mentioned before http://asexualityexists.tumblr.com/post/52897835941/lets-get-organized, http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/25428-aven-as-a-nonprofit-organization/, but the asexual community really needs to starve to establish good non profit organizations that are specifically designed to pursue the community's best interests. I have done a little bit of research on this idea. From what I can tell I could feasibly establish some sort of Ace NPO in one physical place, but I believe that there is even better potential than that. That would require a great deal of colaberation on our part however. So what do you think, Any ideas are welcome :)

Maybe do an informal survey of other similar NPOs. Perhaps NPOs in the LGBTetc. community? See what they have done in the way of starting up. I think an NPO "in one physical place" is essentially where any effort will start, if for any other reason because you'd need an address of some kind to apply for NPO status. Am I right about that? But once up and running, the potential for networking more "physical places" or any more awareness/organizing efforts could/would spring from there. I'm actually starting to look into opening such a place myself. Whether it would be directly associated with AVEN, I honestly couldn't say at this time.

Keep in mind, big plans take many years. It certainly won't happen over night. Or even within a year or so time. But who knows.

As far as an AVEN NPO, I'm pretty new to this site so I'm sure there are others with more knowledge of the direction such an effort could take, but from what I read in those above links and some of the links within those links, it kinda seems like it ultimately comes down to DJ....

AVEN is already trying to become non-profit. AAW has been trying too. David Jay and Sara Beth Brooks told me so in 2013.

I've heard rumors about getting tangled up in applications. Maybe the PT knows more about the status.
