DigbyDriver
I agree with most of these traits you guys mention - even I have thought many of these things to be true for an asexual until I started researching the subject! It's crazy how a single word can make us assume things out of the blue! I have always been viewed as a heterosexual by my friends and family - as my mum said "but you seem so sexual, just look at what you're wearing! - Even though my parents suspected that I was homosexual (because what else could be the problem?!). It's going to be interesting how my friends will view me after I tell them ;-) I haven't been stereotyped for asexuality, but I have experienced one for androgyny. My mom and a few others had a hard time believing that I identified as male most of the time because of my clothing choice. However, when I wear clothing more suited for men, the same people comment that I'm wasting my figure and that I should wear more flattering clothes. I'm a fairly private person, so unless I'm at home, I tend to wear things that wouldn't draw attention. But it does get frustrating when I do tell someone about my androgyny and all they can say is that I don't look like it based on clothing choice. Sometimes I think I need a nice feminine top that politely says "I don't need to look like a lumberjack to feel like a man."

NudistOnStrike
I would say there are two main stereotypes, the ones people who think asexuality is a thing make about us and the one who think aces are a lie. For people who know asexuality is a thing- cold, hard, factual, very no nonsense. And for people who think we are mythical beats that don't exist- people who just cant get laid. FoxEars
(The Ace Astrology thing made my day :P ) I've heard / seen basically all of these stereotypes, although they're not that common in most non-ace places because people just don't know about us. A blessing and a curse, I s'pose. The only ones that have been directed at me personally are: Physically incapable of sex / having no biological sex or something??? (I'm not really sure what they were getting at.) Attention-seeking / oversharing (based on the whole 'I didn't need to know that about you!' argument. I wish people would get that it isn't really about me, it's about asexual antierasure ... ). Ugh. People. ^ FoxEars ^
Kirbyfan66
...My Ctrl + F might not be working, but has nobody discussed the whole cake stereotype yet? That seems to be the one that most ace people enjoy the most, at least from my experiences. Myself included - I think it's a slightly odd yet very amusing stereotype. Namely because I do love me some cake. If we're talking personality traits, then there's two variations: The positive one and the negative one. Negative stereotype, to make it short, we're social misfits who can't properly interact with society. For a positive one, we're shining beacons of hope that prove that "clean and pure" relationships are possible in today's sex driven world. I don't really think either of these are entirely true. I like the cake one a lot more.

We're not 'stereotyped' as being obsessed with cake. We genuinely are obsessed with cake. ^ FoxEars ^
uRBAN_Spaceman
Within my own experiences I've had a wide range of comments made ranging from informed to funny and yes... just plain ignorant. They most commonly seem to assume I am a virgin, nerd, or "fag". I think the most ridiculous comment made to me was at the bar a year or so ago when I was trying to explain myself "So you're like some kind of wanna be virgin then?" I literally had to just /facepalm and walk away from that one. It feels like asexual men are going to be stereotyped as virgins, nerds, or "fags". While asexual women will be stereotyped as lesbians, "nuns", or nerds. It has always struck me as odd that people just can't fathom the idea of not having sexual interest so they just assign one for you.
