I was on BC for my period no sexual reason guys but i stopped after a few days because the side effects were too painful D: so i gotta deal with heavy extremely painful periods every month T-T while on the pill i had horrible migraines, big loss of appetite ( which made me worry because i am already 10 kilos under weight,) massive emotional mood sings, dizzyness. I also stopped because of the suspected breast cancer it can cause mental depression or make one i already have worse. And many other side effects.

i take a depo-provera shot. (i get it every three months).

it has worked really well for me. i was concerned about things that could happen due to it be hormone based. but i haven't had problems with it. i do take calcium supplements. with this one if you take it long term (many many years) it can effect bone density. but emotional/mental issues (which was my main concern) i haven't had major issues. if anything from what i can tell so far, it seems to have slightly lessened the severity of my depressive episodes.

i know this isn't the case for everyone, but i've had a really good experience using a depo shot so far.

I'm currently on the implant in my arm (Implanon and Nexplanon are the two different brands that offer it). It lasts for 3 years. The decision was, because I already take a lot of medicine and sometimes forget to take them when I'm super busy. Also it was to help control my iron level. I have heavy bleeding for the majority of my period. Two things I've noticed after getting it. My arm on occasion itches where it's located. My doctor stated she had heard that before, but wasn't sure why. The other is more acne on my chin, especially under the corners of my mouth. I've only had one cycle since May of last year. However, when I had my last cycle (last month) it was for 2 weeks. I usually also have heavy cramping, but that hasn't been an issue since the implant. If it's something you or anyone here is interested ask your doctor about it and see if it's right for you. I love it.

Well other than that, since my body thinks it's pregnant some of my skin has gotten darker. I'd rather have that though than my cycle each month.

I've just started going on the pill Yasmin for nearly a month now to lower my testosterone - which will also hopefully balance out my period and clear up my skin too. In the first few weeks I had experience some pretty severe depression (I have been told that I have borderline personality disorder, so mood swings are part of the package - but this felt worse than my usual experience with depression and I'm pretty certain that the pill was the cause at that time), but now I seem to be dealing with the physical side effects like nausea and occasional gut pains. I've read that it had taken other users of this pill about 2-3 months to get use to it so I'm hoping it will all work out. So far my skin has improved with less spots than before, so I'm optimistic about the next few months once everything settles down.
