i thought i would love university and worked so hard to get here but i barely ever turn up to class and i'm failing at the moment just because being there makes me so miserable. the support for people with learning difficulties is pretty poor as well, which is a shame considering over a quarter of all veterinary students have one, apparently. my classmates seem pretty horrific too, i thought by 18 months in i'd have made at least a couple of close friends but there's no-one. the majority seem immature and obnoxious, or they already have their clique which i don't feel i can infiltrate. i certainly thought it would be a lot less like high school all over again.

I'm going to be honest...I absolutely HATE going to school. The teachers, the kids, the hours of homework...

I just want to know everyone else's thoughts on this site.

Thanks for reading!

K-12 schooling and full time work seem similar to me, in that you spend hours at a time working with little time to relax, and you can't choose who you spend those long hours with. Whereas university had a lot of variety in terms of hours spent in the classroom and what you were studying, and usually your classmates shared your interests. But the most important thing to me is a flexible schedule. We're not all built to like 9-5 lifestyles! I like working, but I like it even more on my schedule rather than the one imposed on me.

I love to learn, and I am in my third year in University. The school I go to is a commuter school (people drive to school and live with their parents) that is right in the middle of a corporate city. It's not a college town, it's a work town, as I call it. The University itself is amazing. I love the academics and the optional lectures that I attend frequently, in addition to the classes I already have. I just attended a seminar on Opposition Based Soft Computing which was very interesting. A lot of it was above my head (the guy has a PhD and the people attending were all PhD professors) but I still got something out of it, and understood more than I thought I would.

Socially, it could be better, but that's not the school's fault (although since it's a commuter school and not a college town atmosphere, that does make it harder). But I think it has more to do with the type of person I am. I'm quite serious and have never figured out how to interact with people my age. After I get my degrees (in computer engineering and electrical engineering) I will start my career and probably continue taking classes here and there for continuing education. I'll definitely go for my Master's if my boss requires it, but that'll be after I see if I like what I'm doing and gain some experience. I'll even go on for my PhD, if it will be useful for the company and if I can still be a practicing engineer.

I hated being in elementary school, but that's just because of bullying and the fact that traditional classroom teaching doesn't work for me(I hardly remember anything). Vocational schools we're more interesting, but theory classes we're still a pain in the butt. Steady job is fine as long as the work is rewarding in some way. It doesn't need to have all the aspects you enjoy doing, just couple will do.

Too much free time is a bad thing anyway.

I don't particularly like school. The only upside is that I get to see my friends every day, but other than that, I really don't enjoy it. The teachers are bad, there's crushing exam pressure and we get five hours of homework a night. I'm hoping sixth form/college will be better because I can narrow down my subjects, but secondary school is exhausting.

School was a really bad experience. What I really love is my university. So, yes, I love to study what I like and being with my friends and classmates, also I love my teachers in general. The best thing ever :P besides cake haha

I have my good and bad from high school, college, and work. I love the friends I've had, and I've had some amazing experiences. But it seems that the bad experiences I've had cloud the good sometimes, which isn't very nice. But those good ones are always nice to remember :)

The only joy I get out of school is breaking their stupid rules.

i despised school (it drove me to attempt suicide) the only reason i did not drop out was my mother terrified me more than the people at school.

by college i had PTSD and other problems so could not finish but it was at least somewhat interesting

my jobs were all efforts to avoid homelessness and starvation, not things to enjoy.

I've always loved school. I need intellectual stimulation to stay sane and happy, I've come to realize, which made school a very positive experience for me. I especially enjoyed college as I was given more academic freedom. I've been out of college for about 3 years now, and I really miss it. Thankfully, I'll be attending grad school in the fall :D

School all the way up to graduating high school was one enormous mountain of nightmare-fuel (literally nightmares) suck.

College was enjoyable, i loved all the different social things to do and see and meeting all sorts of new kinds of people. However, I absolutely hated having roommates and I burned out badly in my fifth year to the point of almost no return. (Was still worthwhile as an experience, though.)

Work is meh. I like clocking out and forgetting about it (I was never able to do that in school) but it doesn't pay enough and I hate answering questions all day that, really, anyone who wasn't totally mentally lazy could find out for themselves.

I've always liked school and learning. I guess I wouldn't be doing my second degree if I didn't like to study. It gets annoying at times when I have several deadlines coming and sometimes the lectures are just so boring but despite that I still like to study. Usually the boring lectures pass quite easily when I keep reading stories on wattpad or chatting on Facebook or just checking every website I can possibly imagine checking. :D

I like both my jobs

Sorry for everyone who is struggling, but I get paid a decent salary for very little work in my main job. As a cab driver I get paid to do the thing I enjoy most, namely driving. earning more money would be nice, as I am a spemdoholic but other than that I could not be happier

I will be starting high school, 9th grade, in two weeks from today. I am likely going to be in Yearbook, but I do not know for sure. I'll know in one week from today at round up.

I do not necessarily not like school. But at times I do not like it. As long as I am doing well in classes and things going on with friends I have are all good, it would be alright. My mood can change throughout the day, but as long as nothing makes me upset I would be alright. But starting high school is going to be uneasy for me, since I would not know how things will be, where things are at, and I don't have many friends going to the same high school as me. It should be alright, I'll just do my best to handle situations the best I can.

I kind of hate school. It surprises people, because I'm a bit of a bookworm and I love learning. But I hate school.

Work, on the other hand, is much nicer. I feel like I'm actually contributing, helping someone, doing -something- that actually matters. Writing a 12-page essay about the history of behavioral psychology may be a stepping stone on the way to one tool which may hopefully possibly help me eventually help someone... but what I do in my office is helping people directly and immediately. Even if that help is occasionally in the form of doing their grunt work so that they have time to do the important things, I'm still enabling them to do the things that matter, and that feels good. Plus I do get to do important work of my own, too, which feels even better. So yeah, I like work.

I don't care about the core subjects they make us learn in highschool. And the people are strange here.

I like work but hate school because of all the people. I feel really pressured to be social in school and I'm not :(

This... I think. I'm kind of dissociated from that part of my life to the point I'm not even sure what was real. I just... existed.

Certain things still trigger panic attacks.

If you ignore the debt you accumulate, college is great--you get to decide what courses you take and when (like the magical mythology course, or creative writing), and it expands your learning horizons. You can even meet people you don't like, and never meet them again. College is awesome. But that's just me.
