On Cursing

I don't swear at all, or use anything that could really be considered a swear word in the States, though i'll ramble on about someone being a bloody idiot on rare occasions.

Usually the words that are swear words are ones with a connotation i'd rather not have anything to do with, so I choose to not use them in my vocabulary.

I don't curse, I don't know why. People have actually been pointing out this trait of mine and wondering how come I don't do it. I tried to force myself for a while when I was in puberty (I wanted to appear like a rebellious child), but it felt too unnatural. I never feel the kind of anger that would need to be expressed with a curse word.

I swear in French. I don't think more details are needed. ;)

There is only this exception. The only swear words I use are in English (I'm not a native English speaker). I guess it's because i hear these words more often (by watching a lot of movies and series). My two curse words of choice are sh*t and f*ck and I use them when I'm surprised (like "sh*t, really?"). In my language, they sound less drastic as they do in English.

I honestly doubt that the use (or lack of) of curse words is related to being on the ace spectrum or not at all. Curse words are used so frequently in English that it's sort of vocabulary everyone knows, whether or not someone chooses to use these words. Even the most graphic ones have kind of lost their sexual meaning when used casually. Like I tend to say 'fuck me' a lot when something goes wrong, but... I think it's evident I don't mean it. Hopefully. :P

I don't usually curse, though. I got into a lot of close calls with teachers in middle school because of excessive swearing, and got into a lot of trouble with my parents when they found my chat logs. I've been kinda abstaining from it for a few years, now, but the surrounding environment of angsty, rebellious teens is really starting to take its toll.

Hmm, dunno. I doubt it. I curse once in a while, usually under my breath. I have no problem with cursing, though I don't curse nearly as much as other people. Its not really a big part of my vocabulary. Don't know why.

Get me on my bad side and I curse like nobody else x'3

I don't think that has something to do with your sexuality... more like your personality ^~^

I do curse, but I also know when not to. This includes in front of elders, parents, teachers - people it would be disrespectful to do so in front of. I also don't cuss at work, but only because of company regulations. I don't think cursing has anything to do with asexuality, just on how you were raised.

My parents cuss like sailors, but I've learned to control my tongue. So it's fine, in my opinion.

I don't curse when I speak to people I don't know well. I curse a little around those I do know though.

I LOVE my cursing, it expresses my emotions better - but I usually stick to the classics. sh*t, f**k, d*mn, b*tch, a** and mashed up words with them (like a**hat or similar. I rarely use any besides those except the "PG-13" ones like "b**tard" or "d*ck" (but usually only as a describing insult word ie; "you're such a ----"

i have a VERY dirty sense of humor and mind though. I can turn the most innocent sentence into a sexual innuendo and I think that's what has made a lot of people confused when I've come out. "But...you joke so much about it, and you swear!" Like there's supposed to be this goody-two-shoes frigid virgin girl before asexuality makes sense to them or something.

I curse like a sailor :)

I curse worse than one

I'd say to bite my shiny metal ass, but people may not get the joke if they can't see that Bender is your avatar. ;-)

Me, I could make a sailor blush with my vocabulary. I'm like a Picasso of vulgarities.

I'd totally make that my custom forum title but i dont believe I have the power to do that!

I curse more than I should, but usually only around close friends or out of frustration. I make sure to not curse when it's not appropriate, and even though I make an effort not to swear as much, it doesn't seem to be working very well. :P

I think 90% of my sentences contain at least one swear word. I've been swearing since I was maybe 10, and it just got worse and worse. My stepfather gave up trying to correct me on it. And I'm not above learning swear words in other languages either, so I sometimes drop some German or Spanish curses in there too, if the chance arises. It has nothing to do with emotion at all, for me. It's just how I am. You guys have no idea how hard it is for me to sensor myself when I post here. I often just don't. (For which I feel I must profoundly apologize. I know some people find it uncomfortable).

I'm exactly the same.

I don't ever feel the need to swear, and have, in fact, never said anything that I would consider a swear word. Hearing and reading them is fine, and I know it's a reflex for a lot of people, like if they hurt themselves or something, but it's just not something I do.

I also think that what I consider swearing can be surprising to a lot of people. Obviously I'd never say the C, F, or S words, but people are often surprised that I won't even say ass or crap (even just writing them then felt wrong...).

I don't think it's an ace thing though.

I cuss like a sailor normally. If I'm actually pissed or then I either get really professional and I don't cuss at all or I end up getting really creative with my cussing and I usually have to apologize for it later.

Oh I curse a hell of a lot! Most of the time. Nothing to do with my orientation. I mostly picked it up from my dad growing up.

I usually only do it with people I feel comfortable around, otherwise I've got a pretty strong "self-censor". So it's actually kind of a compliment if I swear around you! Unless I'm angry. If I'm pissed off enough then it probably won't matter who I'm with.

Also, I think it's way more fun to come up with things to replace swear words and then watch people's confused faces when I say "oh buttons!" etc.

Some might find its use quite crass,

But I will call my butt my ass.

Though others might not be so quick,

I won't hesitate to call it my dick.

There are others who might not feel the itch

To call a dog or a bad girl a bitch,

But if they've pulled some malicious stunt,

I'll go so far as to call them a cunt,

And as the door behind me I slam,

I'll say that that I don't give a damn.

If someone has to make things a drag,

I'm gonna call that guy a douchebag.

If you hate words, but your ill deeds fit,

Then you should know you're full of shit.

Maybe certain skills you haven't mastered,

So that's on you, you sorry bastard.

If your eloquence is out of luck,

I only say: I don't give a fuck.

I have a mouth like a sailor. Same with some of my other ace friends. I feel like it's not exclusive with the sexuality, though I suppose it could be. I feel like that's just more based on your comfort level with curse words than anything.

I grew up around cowboys, oilfield workers, truck-drivers, bigots; I'm Irish by heritage; I'm a former military servicemember

I swear too much, but I realize that profanity is the crutch of inarticulate motherfuckers, so I'm trying to cut back.

I've never understood why people get offended just hearing certain words, unless they're specifically aimed at you in a derogatory way.
