Anyone who thinks PURE capitalism is a good idea, is either unaware or has forgotten how MUCH the government actually intervenes in the economy. In PURE capitalism there would be NO MINIMUM WAGE.

I don't know about where you live, but here in Ontario, the poverty line is $23000. Ever since the minimum wage was increase to $11 six months ago, minimum wage workers can expect to earn $19000 before taxes. Before the increase, they earned $25050. So you see, the minimum wage actually hurts the working poor.

Also, I am aware how much the government intervenes in the economy.

You've either made some mistake in what you meant to say or something, because if minimum wage is increased it's not possible that minimum wage workers BEFORE TAXES are earning less money. Now what I think you meant to say was after taxes, and that being said, taxes have nothing to do with minimum wage. Totally separate issues, the fact is minimum wage sets a base line for the economy. If the minimum wage was $5 an hour you would make less accordingly, if there's no minimum wage businesses would exploit the working class. That's just fact we've seen it historically. but that wasn't even my point, my point was that there is a whole host of problems with pure capitalism, the least of which is minimum wage.
