I love water! I only recently found out I've probably been dehydrated for the (almost) first 2 decades of my life, so I upped my water intake to 1.5L of tap water (in my huge bottle) plus 3 cups of green tea a day. :)

I drink a loooot of tea. Does that count?

EDIT: It's favoured water, so absolutely! Tea reigns supreme! Along with water and wine
Too bad that both wine and tea dehydrates you :P

Also another important note is that it doesn't help drinking much water in a ahirt period of time as it will just pass right through your body. A moutful water is actually the optimal considering how much watr the body will then actually use to hydrate itself instead of going right to your bladder.

How does tea dehydrate you?

Because you pee the water out instead of absorbing it into your body.

I should drink around 7 glasses of water per day, apparently according to the calculation provided. I usually manage about 4 of those lol

If you are talking about the caffeine, that is actually considered a myth unless you drink a lot of coffee or tea:

It is myth number 5

I hope some of you know that there is also such thing as drinking TOO much water. It's possible. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/strange-but-true-drinking-too-much-water-can-kill/

Old link but something to think about.

Anyway, I don't drink enough water. At the same time, I don't drink any soda, coffee or related things. I only drink a very small amount of juice, but mostly water. Ugh tap water is gross to me, unless it has a filter. I would like to get better with drinking enough water, but I don't like running to the bathroom so much because of my water intake.

It should be noted that you have to drink a very large amount of water for it to be dangerous. Drinking a lot of water usually only becomes dangerous for people who do not eat anything while drinking a lot of water (i.e. models who diet) or do not urinate when they need to (i.e. stupid radio show contest).

That's true.

I forgot to say that in some of the foods we eat, there is also some form of water there too. It's hard to count it, but it's still present.

I drink at least three litres a day. Factor in protein shakes, plus slightly more when I exercise, and it probably tops four and a half, easily. I like it ice cold. I like the kick start effect to the body, the jolt, and I appreciate it's effect on the metabolism. Tap water is fine. I rarely, if ever, drink soda/fizzy drinks, or anything that needs diluting. I do drink tea and coffee and I drink a lot of green tea. I had to up my intake to regulate my hormones (or something like that ) when I was taking a certain medication and I kept it up from then on.

Health benefits of water.

Hi :) I hate water. I don't see the point of filtering water in my foothills town where we get the water before anyone else (I.e. It's not filtered shower water). I drink it cool or lukewarm because I have sensitive gums and get brain freeze easily. As can be expected by my hatred of water, I drink less than I should. I have recently started carrying a water bottle everywhere so it is my default when I get thirsty, because I have suffered health problems from severe dehydration in the past. I also drink tea and flavored water so I can stomach the awful taste :P

I always have a water bottle nearby. I'm always thirsty. I drink far more beverages in a day than anyone I know. About 8-12 12-18oz drinks per 12 hours - at least half of which is bottled water. Most of the time, I don't care about the temperature. I do find ice cold water helps quell nausea from my GI problems though. Not sure why.

I don't like the taste of tap water, Dasani, or Aquafina. I might very well be crazy, but I find those brands to taste unfiltered and have an almost slimy feel to them. In grade school, a teacher did an experiment to prove all water tastes the same. It failed spectacularly with almost everyone being able to identify which one came from the water fountain. I was able to pick out which came from the fountain, which was bottled, and which was from a classroom sink. She made me do the test twice with new cups only she knew had which but I got all three right again. So I might be crazy but I'm at least consistent.

Water is my beverage of choice. Being diabetic, some days I'll drink large amounts when my blood sugar is high.

There are cultural differences between nations when it comes to water drinking habits.

In Iceland, it is virtually impossible to find any bottled water for sale that is not sparkling water. This is because they have some of the best tap water in the world, and there is just no need for bottled water.

In France, although there is nothing wrong with the tap water, people are incessant and habitual drinkers of bottled water, and many French supermarkets have entire aisles dedicated to a huge range of water in bottles and containers of all sizes. All of the water is sourced from alpine glaciers or natural springs. They do indeed all taste different. My favourite is Evian and I gulp down many litres of the stuff each week. There are others that taste so weird that I dont like them at all.

I don't like the taste of tap water, Dasani, or Aquafina.

Dasani and Aquafina are actually both tap water put through a complex purification process with minerals added, and whilst consumers in the United States dont seem to mind that, I am doubtful that such a product would be accepted by the French consumer. The Coca-Cola Company did however launch Dasani in Britain in 2004, following the products success in the United States. But something went wrong at Dasanis UK factory and a bad batch of minerals contaminated the production with a potentially carcinogenic bromate.

Being tap water as opposed to natural spring water had caused the product to be controversial from the start in any case, and the contamination scandal caused the brand to suffer such severe reputational damage in Britain that it couldnt be saved. Dasani disappeared from the UK just five weeks after it had been launched.

It is for this reason that I am averse to drinking Dasani when I visit the US, even though I know in my head that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the American version of the product, I will always buy an alternative brand if one is available (usually Evian, even though it is about three or four times more expensive in the United States as it is in France).

I always have a water bottle nearby.

Me too. Our climate is hot and with low humidity, and in the summer, without your water, you can hardly go between nerby buildings in the university without feeling sick afterwards. In the winter it's not that urgent, but I got used to it.

In summers I happen to spend much time in physical activities outdoor, and then my water consumption is just unreal. Once I had to drink 7 (!!!) liters of water in one day and it all just seemed to evaporate out of me... Deserts can be cruel :o

I drink tea and coffee but not bloody tap water! I will drink bottled plain and flavoured though.

My squish actually likes water! And green tea. I had green tea once but couldn't get into it.

Only ever drink water and that is all. (No soft drinks, no coffee, etc.) Just prefer water, its not for heath reasons. Prefer local/home tap water, but will drink bottle water.

I calculated I need 2.02 liters daily. I easily bust that daily requirement. I use a Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator in my water on occasion because I drink a high volume of liquids.

I am habitually reminding people on a really hot day you need at least 4 liters of water a day. I always use the standard 32 oz. Nalgene bottle as an example because everyone has seen one that is one liter.

For whatever reason my mind works better in the meteric system when measuring fluids.

None. I hate drinking anything because it feels like I'm drowning/can't breathe - I think maybe your windpipe closes off so liquid doesn't go down it? I find a straw reduces that panicky feeling. I have to force myself to have even a glass or so each day of squash or diluted fruit juice. Terribly bad for me I know. At work I'm better because my colleagues nag me. Now I feel so guilty I'll have to go and have something...

The metric system is easier because it is ten based and it is easy to count by tens.

My favorite drink: dihydrogen monoxide on the rocks! ;D

Also I usually can't function without my morning (black) coffee and I absolutely love green tea (especially sencha)! I even told my boyfriend he makes me feel like a princess because he'll make me matcha (with the special whisk) any time!! :cake:

Don't get me wrong; I love my whisky too. Oh and there are nearly 10 water bottles between my house, work, and car, and a big jug of water with a spigot in the fridge! We LOVE our water!

Sufficient daily water intake is vital for virtually every function within our bodies yet fewer than one in five of us drinks enough. Read on to see the results of this experiment.

Sarah Smith is a 42 year old mother of two young kids in the UK. She, like many others, openly admitted to not drinking the recommended 2 to 3 liters of water daily. She suffered from poor and sluggish indigestion and regular headaches. Following consultations with medical professionals for both issues she decided to take heed of the advice given – in both cases she had been told that she needed to up her intake of water. She decided to document and photograph what happened in a self imposed experiment whereby she would drink 3 liters, just over 5 pints, of water per day, every day for an entire month and see if she could feel any benefits.

At the outset Sarah took a long hard look at her face noting that “I am 42, but have to admit I look more like 52 in this picture, which is shocking. There are dark shadows under and around my eyes, which make me look exhausted, a profusion of wrinkles and strange reddish blotches, and my skin lacks any lustre. It looks dead….even my lips look shrivelled.”She spread the water out during the day aiming to drink a big jug of water in the morning, another in the afternoon with a third in the evening.

I'm really lucky because I live in a town that apparently has the 2nd best tap water in the nation, so I can take a drink from the sink without getting that nasty taste that often accompanies tap water.

I try to drink water but I'd say I don't drink enough. The downside is that I'm peeing all the time when I do drink it. I try to fill up my bottle a couple times during the day.

I drink more water than I need to. Which is funny because I rarely feel thirsty. I only think to drink if I see a bottle of water. So I always have a bottle of water with me. I drink at least 3 litres a day, usually more. During the summer, if it's really hot and I have been working all day under the sun (which often happens when I go to the stables and take care of horses), I can drink up to 10 litres a day.

I like tap water just fine (or at least, the tap water from my home. Depending on where the water comes from, I don't always like it). Regarding bottled water, I don't really like mineral water (too tasty), I prefer spring water by far.

And I like my water lukewarm, I hate it when it's ice cold.

I love water. Most people think I'm crazy for loving water :D

Hrm. I would like an "other" on the do you drink tap water. Because it depends.

I drink tea/soda/juice/milk/water and a lot of the times I don't drink as much as you're supposed to... I hardly ever feel thirsty so I have to remind myself. :s I like it room temperature. And I HATE the taste of "city water" in the states. It tastes like chlorine. I will drink well water if it's clean from the tap. I generally drink bottled though, because filtered city water still tastes like chemicals (and some bottled water tastes awful since they just bottle tap water...). Nestle Pure life tastes good though. :D

Do the math at the first post to see how much you should be drinking according to your weight and height. 10 liters is a lot. You want your pee to be a light yellow like hay. Make sure you are getting enough sugars and salts.
