My (fraternal) twin brother and I were born 2 months premature. I have no idea if my brother is ace or not (if I knew he was I think I'd start looking into this idea a bit more, lmao), but I would honestly like to see some research for this one. It seems like it could be really interesting to how many Asexuals were born premature, and just how premature they were.

Oh good heavens. Premature birth has no influence on the architecture or chemistry of the brain.

An elven aro

I was born when my mother was twenty-three weeks and five days pregnant (that is, just over three months premature)

I was born 3 months and a week early too!

I was born at 25 weeks (15 weeks early, 5 and a half months etc.) but although it's the reason for my stammer and dyspraxia, I don't think it's why I'm ace (you can see from the poll that many people who are asexual were not born prematurely).

Of course it do. That's why really premature children have to constantly surveiled. It do affect the body and the brain (considering the brain is an organ too) to be born when you're not fully developed (inside the womb). However, I doubt that most people who arn't that premature and/or don't suffer from it have their asexuality caused by premature birth.

Yes but I don't think it has anything to do with sexuality.

Anyone who answered definitively to the middle two questions is intellectually dishonest. There I said it.

I was early but not premature.

So far studies have shown prenatal hormone absorption influences sexuality, and so premature births could play a slight role in theory, however its not the cause of asexuality.

I was born a few weeks early, but was still a fairly healthy baby. I am asexual and do not believe that this is linked to being premature.

I was born over a month early along with my twin sister, but the only thing I know was from our being premature was the fact that neither of us has a sense of smell.

I agree with shockkkk. It's good to formulate a hypothesis and then test it with a poll, but to ask people to make a definite pronouncement before you've collected the data is to uneducate. I think I was born late. I also read that for men, having older brothers increases your chance of being homo- or asexual. (My first reaction to that was that I had no idea how that could be true, but then when I read it's thought to be because of a cumulative response of the mother's immune system I had to admit that's not too implausible. (If you'd asked me for my first reaction before showing me the data I would have refused to tell you.)) I'm the 3rd of 4 brothers. My youngest brother is married and has children.

My twin and I were born prematurely. I'm asexual and I'm pretty sure she isn't, so it's probably not related.

I think all 7 of my siblings were born quite prematurely. I'm the only remotely asexual one. I don't think my time of birth had anything to do with it, but who knows? Maybe it does factor in. Somewhere around 1/7th of premature babies might be asexual, lol.
