Movie Genres

I have been wondering lately what genre is the most and least popular in this community.

My theory is that rom-coms will be the most abhorred. I personally dislike them for many reasons, but I'm still curious to see how it turns out.

This should definitely be interesting! I don't mind rom-coms if it's more com than rom lol. But for faves I chose a bunch...especially action/adventure, comedy, and animation. : ) Least favorite is definitely horror! I'm easily scared...soooo I stay away from those.

However, I would add sci-fi to the list of awesomeness.

My favorites are comedy and thriller. But the more realistic kind, not the supernatural stuff.

My least favorite is sports. Even rom-coms are better than sports.

I agree with the previous posters. I'm not into horror generally, especially the more graphic kind or the just plain creepy kind. Not into sports either, so I'm generally not interested in sports movies, but there have been a few that I have enjoyed because they were good stories about characters or something. I can't say the same about graphic or creepy horror. Some "rom coms", especially old old ones, like Philadelphia Story or Bringing Up Baby, are good (in my opinion). A good story and/or good characters can sometimes win me over even in genres I wouldn't ordinarily be interested in (but not always, if it's a genre I am Really Not interested).

I enjoy horror, comedy, sometimes romantic comedy, thriller and mystery. I don't care much for sci-fi, musical, western and sports. I don't mind the others.

Darn, I totally missed sports. Those are worse than horror movies. ;-)

But my LEAST favorite movies of all are those alternate future worlds where packs of humans fight eachother. Yikes! I got my Undergrad degree in BFE. Not knowing if 9/11 was to go nuclear I knew terrorists would not waste a bomb on my location, so I was ready to drive seven hours back to my parents' home figuring if the shit hit the fan, I would die with them. I do not want to survivie and deal with nuclear fallout, fighting and wars. *Shudder*

I like comedies, thrillers action films and decent documentaries. I cannot stand anything romantic, just makes me either cringe, or feel extremely uncomfortable. mentally lazy this one, I know, but I also avoid any film that requires thought and consideration. I watch films to escape from reality

@Skycaptain ... I think the love plot in Titanic totally ruined what could have been a cool movie.

That being said, there is a love plot in the movie the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

It's not really an ACE movie theme... but as an ACE I can say I totally love the music and non-sexual elements with all my heart! <3 <3 And the dancing! I wish I could dance.
